Carter Vail at the Raccoon Motel -- August 31.

Carter Vale: Saturday, August 31, 3:30 p.m.

Cole Chaney, Saturday, August 31, 7 p.m.

Raccoon Motel, 315 East Second Street, Davenport IA

A pair of rising indie-music talents will separately headline a pair of August 31 concert events at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, with the afternoon treating venue guests to the alternative pop of YouTube sensation Carter Vail, and the evening bringing audiences an intimate experience with acclaimed guitarist/vocalist Cole Chaney.

As stated at CarterVail.com, "The Connecticut-raised Vail released his first single 'Melatonin' in 2018 as a college student at the University of Miami. His degree in music engineering led him to Nashville in 2019, where he started a recording studio with his friends. 'We were not very good at it,' says Vail. 'We pretty much just ate black beans for two or three years because no one would hire us. The good thing was that gave me a lot of time to work on my own music.' While he amassed a large following on social media making comedy songs and sketch videos on TikTok and Instagram during this span, he also put out three increasingly adventurous albums: 2020’s full-length Red Eyes along with the EPs The Interstellar Tennis Championship Pts I and II in 2020 and 2023."

Vail is currently touring in support of his latest recording 100 Cowboys, and American Pancake wrote of the artist, "Singer/songwriter/producer Carter Vail possesses a knack for spinning stories in chill seductive ways. On the track 'Melatonin' he waxes poetic about Jane, 'Now Jane standing over in a night gown, she's got the phone chord twisted round her finger ... she's a sight to see' and later, 'Now Jane she's a lover like a pipe bomb ... she's got the pink sunglasses ... high heals gonna walk you out." Around the evocative lyrics the musical vibe is as cool as a coastal breeze muting your beads of sweat on a hot summer night. Vail sings with an accompanying high falsetto that enhances the tropical post punk vibe all filtered through an indie pop sheen."

Cole Chaney at the Raccoon Motel -- August 31.

Detailing the artist playing the Raccoon Motel's evening concert on August 31, ColeChaneyMusic.com states, "Hailing from Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Cole Chaney has emerged as a dynamic force in the world of country music. His journey began at the age of 20, fueled by his deep-rooted love for his Kentucky roots and the raw passion of rock and roll. Drawing inspiration from his Eastern Kentucky upbringing, Cole's music serves as anthems for the working man, resonating with the struggles and triumphs of everyday life in the heartland. With gorgeous melodies and heartfelt lyrics, he is a masterful storyteller, weaving tales of his own experiences and the lives of those around him.

"Cole's music transcends boundaries, captivating audiences across the country with his soulful voice and electrifying stage presence. From touring with acclaimed artists like Zach Bryan, Charles Wesley Godwin, and Flatland Cavalry to gracing iconic venues like The Opry and The Ryman in Nashville, Cole's star continues to rise.

With the release of his debut album Mercy, Cole has garnered widespread acclaim, inspiring breathless assessments and 'Album of the Year' pronouncements. However, he remains humble, recognizing that his journey is still in its nascent stages. While comparisons to Kentucky legends like Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers have been flattering, Cole is determined to carve out a sound and approach that is uniquely his own."

Carter Vail headlines his Davenport engagement on August 31, with admission to the 3:30 p.m. concert $26.45, and Cole Chaney performs his concert later that evening with an additional set by Tony Logue & the 184, and admission $23.81 to the 7 p.m. event.
