• More cool covers come charging Tuesday from the Country Teasers on the In the Red Records imprint. The band's new CD, simply entitled Live Album, features originals and twisted takes on songs by New Order, Randy Newman, and the Butthole Surfers.
• Crafted by Leo Fender in 1954, the Fender Stratocaster is the ultimate rock icon, slung like a gunfighter's weapon by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, and countless others. Next week Eagle Vision releases a DVD of last year's 50th- anniversary celebration concert, featuring a who's who of rock royalty bowing down in gratitude. Entitled The Strat Pack: Live in Concert, the show was a to-die-for experience, with Queen's Brian May and the Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood joining The Crickets, and The Eagles' madman Joe Walsh with Paul Rogers of Bad Company. Other highlights include performances from David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Phil Manzenera of Roxy Music, Gary Moore, and Hank Martin, the teaming of Mike Rutherford of Genesis with vocalist Paul Carrack, and covers of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "All Along the Watchtower." Bonus interviews are included as well, with many of the artists talking about how the instrument influenced their craft.
