The Accountant 2 (R; Davenport 5t3rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, The Last Picture House, Blue Grass Drive-in, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Whenever Gavin O'Connor's followup is going through the expected genre motions, it's pretty tired stuff, yet whenever the film embraces its Odd Couple buddy-comedy leanings, which is blessedly often, it's a total hoot IMDb listing.

The Amateur (PG-13; Davenport Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - A professionally rendered, conspiracy-minded globe-trotter with a cast of Oscar, Emmy, and Tony winners that, every so often, delivers some generic excitement and a minor giggle. IMDb listing.

Annabelle (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Wednesday, May 7, 7 p.m.) - A tired, silly, almost wholly scare-free disappointment that earns points for its nicely reconstructed late-'60s setting but loses them for the setting winding up far more interesting than anyone on-screen. IMDb listing.

Back from the Brink: Saved from Extinction (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - This edu-doc would be recommended solely for the chance, for 40 minutes, to actually feel momentarily great about the state of the human race. IMDb listing.

Beloved (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Sunday, May 4, 3:30 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Bonjour Tritesse (R; FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - IMDb listing.

Captain America: Brave New World (PG-13; Blue Grass Drive-in) - Meh-vel. IMDb listing.

Clown in a Cornfield: Early-Access Screening (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Wednesday, May 7, 6:30 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Dream Big: Engineering Our World (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Drop (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Blue Grass Drive-in) - Given the unbelievable talent of charisma of lead Meghann Fahy, I adored every nanosecond of her profoundly silly, deliriously entertaining star-on-the-rise vehicle. IMDb listing.

Extreme Weather (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Flight of the Butterflies (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - A bit pokey, but the slow, unspeakably beautiful explosion that is the butterflies' mass exodus is enough to make you believe in God - or, at the very least, in the gods of nature docs. IMDb listing.

The Friend (R; VIP Cinemas) - Scott McGehee's and David Siegel's engaging, affecting adaptation of Sigrid Nunez's National Book Award-winning bestseller won;'t require a box of Kleenex. One or two individual tissues would suffice. IMDb listing.

Hidden Universe (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

HIT: The 3rd Case (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

The King of Kings (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

The Legend of Ochi (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, The Last Picture House, FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - IMDb listing.

Meg & the Lost Scepter (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - Putnam.org.

A Minecraft Movie (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Blue Grass Drive-in, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Little more than an unpretentious goofball slapstick for kids, or those who, for 100 minutes, agree to be wholly in touch with their inner kid - but Jack Black is astoundingIMDb listing.

Monty Python & the Holy Grail (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Sunday, May 4, and Wednesday, May 7) - IMDb listing.

Mother's Nature: The Body Beautiful Dreaming Rivers (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Tuesday, May 6, 7 p.m.) - ICFilmScene.org.

Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - This edu-doc  tries to do too much in too little a time, but it's never less than interesting, and those mega-screen vistas of Egypt are truly stunning. IMDb listing.

Museum Alive! (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - Putnam.org.

National Parks Adventure (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - This expectedly gorgeous edu-doc is unexpectedly, even thrillingly, varied in presentation: sensationally informative, joyfully inspiring, and even laugh-out-loud funny. IMDb listing.

Oceans (G; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - The movie's 85 minutes occasionally crawl by as deliberately as its sea-floor denizens, yet it's hard to be too disappointed by a film that provides so many extraordinary sights. IMDb listing.

On Swift Horses (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

Post Tenebras Lux (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Monday, May 5, and Thursday, May 8, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Singin' in the Rain (G; The Last Picture House: Saturday, May 3, 1:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 4, 1 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Sinners (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, FilmScene at the Chauncey, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - This might be first great movie that literally gives you everything, considering that most revered titles don't think to add bloody supernatural horror, original blues songs, and an American-history primer into the mix. IMDb listing.

Snow White (PG; VIP Cinemas, Voy 61 Drive In Theatre) - This Disney reboot occasionally made me Happy, but more often just Sleepy and Grumpy. IMDb listing.

Space: The New Frontier (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (PG; The Last Picture House: FRiday,. May 2, 8:15 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Superpower Dogs (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - Daniel Ferguson's edu-doc provides enough globe-trotting action for a James Bond flick, treating us to first-rate training footage and re-created missions in locales ranging from the Canadian Rockies to the Italian coast to a debris-strewn site near New York's Ground Zero. IMDb listing.

The Surfer (R; VIP CInemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

T. REX (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Thudarum (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Thunderbolts* (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Voy 61 Drive In Theatre, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

Until Dawn (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - A senseless, boring, derivative snooze featuring zero characters whom you hope will survive its very, very long night's journey into day. IMDb listing.

Warfare (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - A rather stunning war-time thriller, but if we can't glean our protagonists' mission beyond “get out alive,” and don't feel anything at the finale beyond relief that it's over, why are we watching in the first place? IMDb listing.

The Wedding Banquet (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey) -This gay rom-com is warm and winning, and if it doesn't quite transcend the goofiness of its conceit, that's no big deal. In this vanishing genre these days, “good enough” is pretty much the new “good.” IMDb listing.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (G; Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Sunday, May 4, and Monday, May 5, 7 p.m.) - This 1971 classic, and one of the ost enjoyable "family" flicks ever made, is frequently a candy-coated shiv in the gut. IMDb listing.

The Woman in the Yard (PG-13; VIP Cinemas) - The wheels eventually fall off the wagon, but for at least an hour, director Jaume Collet-Serra and his first-rate cast keep the proceedings appropriately creepy, and even somewhat moving. IMDb listing.

A Working Man (R; Blue Grass Drive-in) - This vengeance thriller isn't a sequel but it feels like a sequel – a familiar-seeming character taking on One Last Mission you're pretty sure he took on a decade ago. IMDb listing.

Wright House Documentary (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Saturday, May 3, noon) - ICFilmScene.org.
