(DES MOINES) - Gov. Branstad appointed today Christopher L. Bruns as judge to the 6th Judicial District.  He also appointed David P. Odekirk as judge to the 1B Judicial District.

Bruns, of Cedar Rapids, received his undergraduate and law degrees from Drake University and is currently in private practice.  Bruns was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Nancy A. Baumgartner.  District 6 consists of the following counties: Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Tama.  http://www.iowacourts.gov/About_the_Courts/District_Courts/District_Six/

Odekirk, of Waterloo, received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa and is currently in private practice.  Odekirk was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Stephen C. Clarke.  District 1 consists of the following counties: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Grundy, Howard, and Winneshiek.  http://www.iowacourts.gov/About_the_Courts/District_Courts/District_One/
