The 31st season of the Quad City Wind Ensemble continues Sunday, February 26th at 3:00pm. Conducted by Brian L. Hughes, the Winter Concert program theme is “South of the Border” and will include music from and inspired by Central and South America. The Quad City Wind Ensemble's (QCWE) Winter Concert will be performed on Sunday, March 16th at 3:00pm.  The concert will take place in the Allaert Auditorium at the Galvin Fine Arts Center on the St. Ambrose campus.  Admission in $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and FREE for all students through 12th grade.  See attached poster for details.

The QCWE was recently selected as performers at the Iowa Bandmasters Association (IBA) 2014 Conference in May.  The conference will take place May 15-17 at the Downtown Marriott in Des Moines, Iowa.

The IBA includes a membership of over 1,000, most of whom are directors of school bands.  It is one of the largest and most active of all state bandmaster organizations in the country.  Its driving force has kept good bands and good band music thriving in communities of all sizes through the state of Iowa.

The QCWE was founded in 1987 by Dr. Charles B. DCamp of St. Ambrose University, and has become one of the finest adult bands in the nation. Conducted by Brian L. Hughes, the QCWE will perform works by Anne McGinty, Nancy Galbraith, Colette Hausey, Shelley Hanson and Julie Giroux. The concert will immediately be followed by a reception with free refreshments and homemade treats.

The 27th season of the Quad City Wind Ensemble kicks off Sunday, October 21st at 3:00pm. The theme of the concert is "Reflections," music that features nature and the seasons, and will feature principal saxophonist Dane Marolf.

Mr. Marolf will perform "Fantasia for Alto Saxophone" by Claude T. Smith accompanied by the wind ensemble. Conducted by Brian L. Hughes, the QCWE will also perform a variety of pieces from the concert band and wind ensemble repertoire, including works by Brian Balmages, Nancy Galbraith, Andrew Boysen, and Alfred Reed. The concert will immediately be followed by a reception with free refreshments and homemade treats.
