JOHNSTON, IOWA (April 4, 2025) — President Trump announced his global tariff plan during his “Make American Wealthy Again” event on April 2. The plan includes adding a universal tariff of 10% on all US trading partners, effective on midnight, April 5, and roughly sixty of the US’s top trading partners will be subject to higher rates, effective on midnight, April 9. JOHNSTON, IOWA (March 31, 2025) — In February, the Iowa Corn Leadership Enhancement and Development (I-LEAD) program traveled to Vietnam and South Korea on an international learning mission as part of the two-year program. The group studied local agriculture and visited trading partners to better understand the important role Iowa grown corn plays in global markets. The mission explored corn trade in all forms from grain to ethanol to livestock feed.

JOHNSTON, IOWA (March 17, 2025) — Each year, Iowa Corn offers Future of Ag Scholarships to young aspiring corn growers and supporters from across the state. Eighteen $1,000 scholarships were awarded in 2025 with two scholarships going to each of the nine corn districts. The scholarships are split evenly, with nine going to high school seniors entering their first year of college, and nine going to upperclassmen or who are enrolled in a graduate program.

JOHNSTON, IOWA (January 10, 2025) — The Department of Treasury released more details today about a tax credit, known as 45Z, that is designed to help the biofuel industry make inroads into the aviation sector.

While today’s news included more information, corn-grower leaders said they still need better clarity about the specific environmental practices that will be required for accessing the credit.
