Drake University Board of Trustees Reappoints President Marty Martin for a Three-Year Term

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 25, 2025) — Drake University is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to extend President Marty Martin’s contract to serve as Drake’s president for an additional three years, securing his leadership through the end of the University’s 2029 fiscal year (June 30, 2029).

Drake University Appoints Erik Maki as New Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 7, 2024) — Drake University has selected Erik Maki, an accomplished and long-time faculty member at the University, as the next dean of its College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Maki will begin his role as dean July 1.

Drake University Unveils New Teacher Intern Program

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 11, 2024) Drake University School of Education announced today the introduction of a new Teacher Intern Program. The program will allow individuals with a Bachelor's degree in another field and three years of post-Bachelor work experience to complete coursework toward teacher licensure for middle school or high-school subject areas in an accelerated format.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 26, 2024) — Drake University announced today the launch of a new Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program that will meet the dynamic interests of current and future students, and address growing workforce needs. The program will begin in the Fall 2024 semester.

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 12, 2023) — After more than three decades of unwavering commitment to Drake University including the last eight years as Dean, Renae Chesnut will step down from her deanship on January 31, 2024, completing an administrative sabbatical until her official retirement on December 31, 2024 — during which time she will support the launch of a new academic program currently in development.
