Downtown Davenport IA
The final area festival of 2017's summer will commence in this inaugural celebration of music, film, comedy, and visual art, with performances and activities scheduled at 14 downtown-Davenport venues.
Live music will be provided courtesy of more than three dozen bands and solo musicians, with festival headliner Ben Folds sharing his alternative-rock and power-pop stylings in a 7:30 p.m. Adler Theatre concert on August 26.
Twenty film screenings will be held at venues including the Figge Art Museum, the River Music Experience, and the Bucktown Center for the Arts, ranging from shorts to documentaries to classics as diverse as Charles Burnett's Killer of Sheep, George Romero's iconic Night of the Living Dead, and the campy Reefer Madness.
Visual art will be represented through events including the Davenport RiverCenter's handmade/vintage art celebration OMG BeckyFest, Quad City Arts' outdoor competition Chalk Art Fest, and the dog portraiture on view in the Mary Stephens Gallery Opening.
And nearly two dozen comedians will perform standup sets at venues including Front Street Brewery, Me & Billy, and Davenport's Barrel House, with showcase performances scheduled to highlight a collection of comedians from the Quad Cities, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Milwaukee.
