MUSCATINE, IOWA (May 23, 2022) — The artist William Havlicek describes his series “The Sanctuary of the Sun: Seasons and Time” as “a poetic eulogy to Iowa’s seasonal changes, ochre harvests, russet woods, and silent streams.” Selections from the series will be on exhibit in the historic house at the Muscatine Art Center from June 2 through September 11, 2022.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (May 16, 2022) — The Muscatine Art Center invites the community to explore the lives of children from all different kinds of circumstances through the exhibition, “Where Children Sleep: Photographs by James Mollison.” This revealing series of photographs shares the diverse stories of children in many different countries.

He worked tirelessly for the organization and was a driving force for art and artists in our community. In his memory, Quad City Arts recognizes and celebrates exceptional leadership in the arts community with an award that embodies his creative spirit and passion.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (April 21, 2022) — The Muscatine Art Center is happy to announce the upcoming performance of Brinton Surprise, a Red Cedar Chamber Music production, on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 3PM. The free performance will take place in the Muscatine Art Center’s Music Room.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 5, 2022) — Nearly 90% of flowering plants rely on approximately 200,000 species of animal pollinators for fertilization. Smithsonian Gardens and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service present Pollination Investigation, an exhibition that explores the who, what, when, where, why, and how of pollination by interpreting the unique relationship between pollinators and flowers.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (March 28, 2022) — The Muscatine Art Center will offer two programs on the historic Japanese Garden this spring. The first, set for Thursday, April 7, 5:30PM, is an informational session on the rehabilitation of the garden. Director Melanie Alexander will speak about the decision-making process, the scope of the project, the roles of those involved in the project, and the project’s funding sources.
