DES MOINES, IOWA (October 20, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced that more than $470,000 in grants have been awarded to rural communities through seven Empower Rural Iowa Grant programs. The grant awards will support rural initiatives including child-care, housing, and leadership development.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 19, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced new grant awards for Iowa’s community colleges that will help expand the use of modernized infrastructure needed for programs that help individuals obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL). The new grants come as part of the state’s collective effort over the past two years to expand training opportunities and widen pathways to Iowa’s high-demand jobs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 9, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff immediately on Monday, October 9, and remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, October 15, 2023, to honor the lives lost — including at least nine Americans — in the horrific attacks committed against Israel by Iran-backed terrorist organization Hamas.

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 29, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds announced the appointment of Renee Schulte of Urbandale to serve as Chair of the Iowa Board of Parole. Schulte begins her new role today.

“Renee’s extensive background in mental and behavioral health will help protect our communities while advancing our goals of supporting the successful re-entry of parolees and reducing recidivism,” said Gov Reynolds. “I look forward to working alongside Renee in this new role.”
