The Hubbell-Waterman Foundation has awarded a capital grant in the amount of $25,000 to Rivermont Collegiate for masonry preservation, maintenance, and repairs to the historic Joseph Bettendorf Mansion. The grant will be used to begin essential repairs to exterior bricks, mortar, and joints on the 100-year old structure.

Built in 1815, the Bettendorf Mansion is one of only two remaining structures within the city of Bettendorf listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is of significant historical value to the entire community and region.

Rivermont Collegiate moved to the Bettendorf estate from the original campus in Davenport in 1973. The Mansion houses the Middle and Upper school classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab, and administrative offices. The Bettendorf Mansion also hosts numerous weddings and community events throughout the year.

Rivermont Collegiate is proud to announce one of our seniors, Michal Porubcin, has been recognized as a 2015 Illinois State Scholar!

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), the state agency committed to helping to make college accessible and affordable for Illinois families, bestows this prestigious recognition to top Illinois high school students annually. This year, over 18,800 elite honorees join the other top state students honored for their academic achievements since the designation was first introduced in 1958.

Illinois State Scholars represent approximately the top ten percent of high school seniors, hailing from 671 different high schools across the state. Selection is based on SAT, ACT or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year. High school guidance counselors work with ISAC to determine the winners.

While the prestigious recognition does not include a monetary award, recipients are encouraged to cite the award on applications for college admission. The Rivermont community is extremely proud of Michal's accomplishments!

December 2, 2014 - Celebrate the joy of the season, Saturday, December 13th, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm! The historic Bettendorf Mansion on Rivermont Collegiate's campus is beautifully decorated each year for the holidays. The Open House is an opportunity to view the breath-taking decor in all its splendor!

The Historic Joseph Bettendorf Mansion was built on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi. The Mansion is a local landmark, featuring Italian marble, painted ceilings, and hand carved woodwork. Joseph W. Bettendorf, head of the Bettendorf Company, built his English manor style home in 1915 for his family and to entertain railroad magnates from the east. In 1973, St. Katharine's-St. Mark's School (now Rivermont Collegiate) purchased the Mansion. In 1984, the Bettendorf Mansion was recognized for its historical significance to the people of Iowa and was entered in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Bettendorf Mansion is located at 1821 Sunset Drive, directly off 18th Street behind K&K Hardware in Bettendorf. Drop in between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. for light refreshments and tours of this local gem! This event is open to the public and dress is casual.
