DES MOINES, IOWA (May 1, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced new grant awards to help jumpstart youth internships in high-demand fields across Iowa. The Summer Youth Internship Program provides funding to employers, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations who sponsor meaningful internship programs for Iowa’s youth between the ages of 14 and 24.

Iowa’s Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship (RA) Program, first introduced last year, has grown this year to support programs in even more high-demand occupations in health-care.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 30, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced new grant awards that will directly support the critical-training opportunities necessary to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) in Iowa. The Entry-Level Driver Training Program will help Iowa meet its strong demand for truck-drivers and school bus-drivers by providing $2.94 million to support 46 different training programs across the state.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 23, 2023) — Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 2.9 percent in February from 3.0 percent in January. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate increased from 3.4 percent to 3.6 percent in February. The number of unemployed Iowans decreased to 50,100 in February from 51,200 in January.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 13, 2023) Iowa’s unemployment rate was 3.0 percent in January, down from the 3.1 percent initially announced in December. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate decreased to 3.4 percent. Iowa’s December unemployment rate was also revised to 3.0 percent.

The award is given each year to one or more states or individuals demonstrating a commitment to excellence in helping job-seekers become reemployed.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 20, 2023) — Iowa’s unemployment rate remained at 3.1 percent in December, down from 3.9 percent a year ago, while the U.S. unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in December.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 9, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced a second round of grant awards targeted at supporting child-care slots through meaningful business incentives. A total of $443,234 will be awarded through Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) and the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support five projects involving eleven participating businesses that will help create 77 new child-care slots.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 9, 2023) — Governor Reynolds has announced a new round of funding that will soon be open to support Summer Youth Internship opportunities across Iowa. A total of $379,000 will be available for Future Ready Iowa’s Summer Youth Internship Program grants, which support the creation of internship programs for Iowa’s youth between the ages of fourteen and 24 that help prepare them for high-demand careers in the workforce.
