Jordan Catholic School's annual walk-a-thon will be held on Friday October 4th a rain date of October 7th have been collecting pledge donations with a school goal of $12,000. The fun starts at 1:00 pm in the school gymnasium with Mo Mallard and "Minute to Win It" entertainment! Students will begin walking along the route (at right) at approximately 1:30. Hy-vee will have a hydration station set up along 20th Avenue directly behind the store.

Children will be dressed in Jordan spiritwear.

Jordan fourth grade students collected Peanut Butter, Jelly, and Crackers for their Lenten
service project "Peanut Butter & Prayers." The food was donated to the St. Vincent
DePaul Food Pantry to serve as a healthy snack for children. The Jordan students prayed
each day for all children in our community who go to bed hungry.

Sixteen 6th grade students at Jordan Catholic School were accepted to St. Ambrose University's Engineering Camp. The school reported a record number of students qualifying for the camp and attributes it to Jordan's strong S.T.E.M. program.

On Wednesday April 24th from 4:00 - 6:30 P.M. Jordan Catholic School will hold a Spring Open House. Come see all that Jordan has to offer your family. Jordan Catholic School 7th & 8th Grade Science Fair Friday February 22nd, 4-6pm

Over 70 7th & 8th grade students will participate with more than 40 projects displayed. This first round of fair will take place at Jordan on Friday: • 10:00am - 12:30pm: Judging- judging teams are composed of engineers from John Deere, St. Ambrose and Augustana faculty and students, as well as science degreed professionals.


• 1:15pm to 2:50pm: Open to the Jordan student and faculty
• 4:00pm to 6:00pm: Open to the public

Students may earn an opportunity to compete in the regional tournament in March at Western
Illinois University, and then to the Illinois State Science Fair in May at University of Illinois.

Catholic Schools Week Theme: "Catholic Schools Raise the Standards"

This week each class will educate students and staff about various
saints. Information will be provided on doors and during Morning Prayer
Announcements.

Sunday---- January 27, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standard: In Our Parishes
• Open House at Alleman for 8th Graders early afternoon.
• Parishes will be honoring Catholic Schools Week by designating one mass as a
tribute to Catholic education: St. Pius 9:00am / St. Ambrose 9:30am / St. Patrick's
10:00am / St. Mary's 10:30am / Sacred Heart 9:00am


Monday---- January 28, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: Through our
Heritage
• 8:20am Living Rosary Prayer Service in the gym at Jordan Catholic School.
• 9:40am Mass at Alleman High School for grades 6, 7, & 8.
• Classes or Grade Levels invite former graduates to come in and speak about their
experiences at Jordan. This event will be held at various times throughout the day.

Tuesday------January 29, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our
Community



The entire school will be collecting food for the St. Vincent DePaul food
pantry and will be presented on Wednesday morning prior to Mayor Pauley's
proclamation. Each grade level will donate to various community organizations,
such as the animal, battered women, and homeless shelters.

Wednesday------- January 30, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standard: In Faith
• At 8:30am in the gym Mayor Dennis E. Pauley will be presenting a proclamation
honoring Catholic Schools Week in Rock Island, IL. Food items collected for the
St. Vincent DePaul pantry will be presented at this time.
• 1:30pm Mass at St. Pius X Church in Rock Island.
• The students will be visually demonstrating their faith by dressing in colors that
relate to major facets of our religious beliefs.

Thursday-------January 31, 2013 Catholic Schools Raising the Standard: In
Careers/Vocations
• Parishioners, parents, prospective parents, and community members are invited
to an Open House 9:00-12:00 for parents. Prospective parents and community
are invited to visit 9:00-11:00. Come see our classes in session and tour the new
building additions.
• Parents, clergy, and religious will be invited to share their careers or vocations
with our students.
• Preschool Open House PS-4-AM&PM-5 Day & PS-3-AM&PM / 10am &
1:15pm

Friday--- February 1, 2013 Catholic Schools Raising the Standard: In Our
Faculty, Staff, and Students
• Students will have their throats blessed by our priests in honor of the Feast of St.
Blaise, which is February 3rd.
• A "special" lunch will be provided by the Jordan Home and School Association
for students, teachers, and staff.
• D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read)

Jordan is the first school in the area to establish a K-8 STEM program. The following ground-breaking events are planned:

"STEM-stirs" Show and Share Night
Jordan Catholic School, Wednesday, December 5th from 4:00pm to 5:30pm Jordan Catholic School is the first school in the Quad Cities to sponsor 11 junior FLL teams (K through 4th grade Junior First Lego League) and is having a Show and Share Night to show
our community the students' projects and their journey to learn more about "Super Seniors" and how the senior citizen's lives have changed since they were kids. Please join us and view the first ever Jr. FLL projects to be displayed in the Quad Cities area. The event will take place in the lower level of the school. Please enter via the South doors and turn left down the stairs.

JET to host 2012 First Lego League Regional Competition - Senior Solutions
Jordan Catholic School, Saturday, December 15th from 8:00am to 4:00pm
Jordan Catholic School, in support of First Lego League, offers an Engineering and Technology program. JET (5-8th grade) has participated in FLL successfully for four years and is taking the next step- hosting the first ever Illinois FLL Regional Qualifier in the Quad Cities. Fifteen teams from around the area will compete in the 2012 FLL Senior Solutions Challenge for four coveted spots to advance to the state competition in Arlington Heights on January 19, 2013. The event will take place in Farrell Hall. Please enter via the Farrell Hall doors around the back of the school.
