MOLINE, ILLINOIS (December 21, 2022) — SAL Community Services has been awarded nearly $1.2 million from the Illinois State Board of Education to implement its Prevention Initiative program, which provides services and resources to expectant parents and families with children from birth to age three to support healthy social and emotional development.

The grant is a game-changer for children and families in western Illinois.

ROCK ISLAND, ILINOIS (November 28, 2022) — American Red Cross volunteers responded to seven home fires in Galesburg (Illinois), Geneseo (Illinois), Oquawka (Illinois), Quincy (Illinois), Rock Island (Illinois), and Wever (Iowa) in the past week and provided assistance to seventeen individuals, through supplying them with basic items to meet immediate needs after a fire, and additional support in the form of health and mental-health services and one-on-one support.

Among them were the recipients of three awards, given out every year by the Iowa Cancer Consortium to people who have worked to reduce the burden of cancer in the state.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 1, 2022) — The Iowa Hospital Association’s Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation will award sixty post-secondary health-care scholarships of up to $7,000 ($3,500 per year for up to two years) and $1,000 to students enrolling in emergency medical technology/technician certification programs.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 31, 2022) — The Rock Island County Health Department (RICHD) will hold its last 2022 walk-in flu vaccination clinic on Tuesday, November 1, during the same time as the ongoing Moderna COVID-19 vaccine clinic.
