LeCLAIRE, IOWA (February 25, 2025) — The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley, in partnership with the City of LeClaire, is pleased to announce the construction of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility to serve the health and fitness needs of residents in the LeClaire area.

“The City of LeClaire has done a number of surveys over the last few years asking residents what their priorities are for recreational amenities. The top answer is consistently a need for a new recreation facility, including a pool. The Y is the perfect solution and perfect partner for the City. The Y is known as a place that builds strong bodies, strong minds, and strong communities,” said Mayor of LeClaire Dennis Gerard. “We’re excited to get started with this project, bringing quality fitness and recreation to the residents of our city and beyond.”

The decision to build a YMCA facility in LeClaire, a project that will cost nearly $18 million to be split between both the Y and the city, meets an unserved need in this area of the Quad Cities. The facility will include:

● A full aquatics area with lap lane pool and area for group water exercises

● Full court basketball gym

● Weight room fully-stocked with brand new equipment

● Walking/Running track spanning the entire second floor

● Group Exercise area

● Cardio area overlooking a beautiful view of the Mississippi River

● The continuously popular EGYM This facility will of course be open to the nearly 50,000 current members of YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley.

We will also continue to offer an affordable option for fitness; in 2024 our organization provided $1.8 million in financial assistance, and 22% of our members are on scholarship.

Construction on the new LeClaire YMCA is scheduled to begin in Summer 2025 and construction is expected to open in November 2026.
