DES MOINES, IOWA (November 27, 2024) — This year, Starbucks is contributing $4M in grants to nearly 300 food rescue organizations across the nation.
In Iowa, twelve food banks will be receiving grants, which will support food distribution and infrastructure, including refrigeration, transportation, storage and expanding their capacity.

Why this is important:
With more than 16,000 stores in the US, Starbucks is committed to using its scale to be an active part of the solution for hunger relief. Since 2016, through the partner-created FoodShare program, Starbucks works alongside its stores, local food banks, and food pantries to donate and safely distribute food to communities. Starbucks has provided more than 63 million meals through this program.
Starbucks is supporting to alleviate hunger in local communities this holiday season including actions from partners (employees) and customers to support alleviate it.
Here’s what is happening this holiday season:
- Holiday Giveback: For every protein box purchased between November 19 and January 2, Starbucks will donate a meal* to Feeding America., and from November 7 to December 31, customers can support their local FoodShare food bank by participating in a virtual food drive.
- Season of Cheer: During Starbucks annual "Season of Cheer," starting November 7, partners are encouraged to support local Foodshare food banks by volunteering or donating. For the first time this year, on Giving Tuesday (12/3) donations of $5 or more to a Feeding America FoodShare food bank will be triple matched by Starbucks.
