BETTENDORF, IOWA (October 31, 2024) — Alternating Currents, Downtown Quad Cities’ annual multi-city, bi-state festival, is now accepting submissions from talented filmmakers, musicians, comedians, and artists for its 2025 line-up.
Returning for its eighth year, the festival will take place August 14-17, 2025 bringing together hundreds of performances and activations across more than forty venues in the Quad Cities.
Since its inception, Alternating Currents has been a driving force for creative expression in the Midwest, highlighting music, film, comedy, and visual arts in a multi-venue, immersive celebration. In addition to its impact on the arts, the festival is a significant boost for the local economy, energizing the downtown districts of Davenport, Rock Island, Bettendorf, and beyond.
One of the festival’s marquee events is the Alternating Currents Film Fest, hosted at The Last Picture House, a boutique cinema and cocktail lounge owned by Hollywood filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. With screenings open to genres, Alternating Currents provides filmmakers a platform to showcase their work, connect with creators, and cultivate a new audience.
“Alternating Currents has become more than a festival; it’s a hub for creators and our submission process allows us the opportunity to discover artists across a variety of disciplines,” says Alisha Espey, Alternating Currents Festival Director.
“This is an opportunity for artists to join our community and experience the energy and enthusiasm that only the Quad Cities can offer.”
In keeping with the festival’s mission, there is no ticket required to attend, ensuring accessibility and encouraging diverse participation from residents and visitors alike.
