ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (September 10, 2024) — Narratives QC is thrilled to announce the inaugural Life Story Awards Ceremony, an event dedicated to celebrating the resilience, creativity, and transformative power of local young adults. This inspiring evening will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 6-7:30PM, at the Rock Island Public Library — Watts Midtown Branch, located at 2715 — 30th Street, Rock Island.
The Life Story Awards Ceremony will honor individuals aged 17-25 from around the Quad Cities whose life stories exemplify extraordinary strength — stories of unsung heroes, often overlooked, who are changing our community every day. The event will feature live spoken word performances, and attendees will have the opportunity to hear firsthand the powerful narratives of Narratives QC's young adults.
"Each story we will celebrate reflects the incredible journey of individuals who have turned adversity into triumph,” said Narratives founder and executive director, Dr. Annette Clevenger. “This event is not just about recognition; it's about inspiring others to see the potential in their own narratives."
Dr Clevenger, also among the award recipients, will be presented with the prestigious Royal Neighbors Nation of Neighbors Award in recognition of her significant contributions to empowering young adults in the community.
"Dr Annette Clevenger's work through Narratives QC perfectly aligns with the spirit of our Nation of Neighbors program,” said Royal Neighbors CEO and President Zarifa Reynolds. “By providing young women in the Quad Cities with the tools, mentorship, and support they need to rewrite their stories, she is creating a lasting ripple effect of positive change throughout our community for generations to come.”
This event is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in the power of storytelling and community empowerment is invited to join us for an unforgettable evening. The evening will also include refreshments and a chance to mingle with the awardees, community members, and supporters of Narratives QC.
