FAYETTE, IOWA (November 22, 2021) — One year after unveiling its Military Family Grant to benefit undergraduates of the entire military family, Upper Iowa University (UIU) has extended the tuition assistance to graduate students. The grant now provides a $250 per credit-hour tuition rate for undergraduate courses and a $325 per credit-hour tuition rate for graduate courses to all eligible spouses and dependents of active duty, reserve, and National Guard service members.

"Upper Iowa University is proud to be one of the most proven military- and veteran-friendly universities in the country," said Brandy Branstetter, UIU director of military affairs/Midwest region. "The Military Family Grant is just one of the many examples that we provide a means of financial support to service members and their families as they seek to further advance their education and careers."

For over a decade, UIU has successfully utilized tuition assistance at US military locations in an effort to provide the nation's servicemembers an affordable Education Built for Life. UIU offers annual Military Spouse Scholarships and a Patriot Grant for all veterans and active DOD card holders. The university also accepts tuition assistance, veteran's educational benefits, scholarships, and Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts.

A private, nonprofit university, UIU provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs to about 4,500 students at over 20 US education locations, including its main Fayette, Iowa, Campus. Each UIU academic year consists of five eight-week sessions and one accelerated six-week summer session, so students typically take fewer classes at a time. Other students get a jump on completion by transferring in up to ninety undergraduate credits or twelve graduate credits from other schools. Credits may also be earned via an experiential-learning portfolio or various college examinations.

A participating institution in the Principles of Excellence and Yellow Ribbon programs, UIU has been named a top Military-Friendly School or University by VIQTORY, Military Advanced Education, and GI Jobs on multiple occasions. Online undergraduate and Master's programs at UIU have also been ranked among the best online programs for veterans and service members by US News and World Report.
