Former Cubs Star Rick Reuschel to attend, sign autographs

DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 5, 2019) — Canadian Pacific and the Quad Cities River Bandits have partnered to present free tickets for the Bandits game at Modern Woodmen Park against the Clinton LumberKings on Wednesday, August 7. This will be the third game of the 2019 season in which fans are welcome to attend a River Bandits game free of charge. Most recently, on July 31, the team played in front of nearly 4,000 fans who received free entry to the ballpark.

“As an employer and transportation-service provider in the Quad Cities area, we at CP are excited about the opportunity to treat the community to an evening out at the ballpark and to show our appreciation for the great people we support,” said Tracy L Miller, CP’s Vice President Operations, Southern Region. “After the challenges of major flooding this spring, now is a great time for us to come together around this great American pastime.”

To make the night even more special, former Chicago Cubs star Rick Reuschel will be at the ballpark signing autographs. Reuschel, a three-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner, is a native of Quincy, Illinois, and a graduate of Western Illinois University.

The free game on August 7th will also give fans the opportunity to be in the ballpark as the River Bandits make their debut as the Quad Cities Treasure Hunters. For the first time in franchise history, the team is rebranding for a three-game series. The River Bandits will don special uniforms and play as the Treasure Hunters from August 7-9 against Clinton. Special Treasure Hunters apparel will be available for purchase in the team store.

ABOUT THE BANDITS: The 2019 season marks the River Bandits’ seventh year as the Class-A affiliate of the Houston Astros and the twelfth anniversary season of regaining the River Bandits moniker, which was voted a top-8 nickname in all of Minor League Baseball in 2015. The River Bandits anchor the Quad Cities sports market, which The Sports Business Journal in their latest rankings named one of the top two minor league sports market in the country. Each year the River Bandits donate three annual all-tuition-paid college scholarships, a value of approximately $85,000, as part of the Bandit Scholars Program, which has been in place since 2009. Charitable contributions surpassed $600,000 in 2018, including a $100,000 cash donation to Genesis Health Systems; in 2015 and again in 2017, Ballpark Digest awarded the Bandits its “Best Charity Campaign” of the year, making the River Bandits the only team to win that coveted award twice.
