MOLINE, ILLINOIS (June 27, 2019) — The Moline Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of over $300,000 in grants to 40 not-for-profits working in the areas of Health and Human Services, Arts, and Culture, Education, and the Environment as part of its 2019 Spring Community Needs grant-cycle.
The Moline Foundation received over 80 grant submissions as part of the spring grant cycle. “The requests for funds shows the growing need for assistance to our area not-for-profits,” explained Joy Boruff, President/CEO, The Moline Foundation. “As the number of requests increase, we cannot be more appreciative of our generous donors and fund advisors whose support increases our Community Needs budget.”
The following organizations were selected to receive funding through The Moline Foundation’s spring Community Needs cycle:
- Child Abuse Council —Office technology updates ($1,265.00)
- Churches United of the QCA — Winnie’s Place — Emergency shelter for women/children ($3,000.00)
- Community Resource and Learning Center — Family literacy activities & GED classes ($2,000.00)
- CPC Pregnancy Resources — Early health care program, pregnancy tests and computer ($2,300.00)
- Family Museum of Arts and Science — Luckey Climber maze ($3,500.00)
- Family Outreach Community Center — New computers/software ($2,000.00)
- QC Elite First Robotics Team #648 — New robot module & tech supplies ($3,500.00)
- Quad Cities Senior Olympics — 29th Annual Senior Olympics expenses ($1,000.00)
- Quad Cities Youth Conference — Rent space & supplies for 545 students for annual conference ($3,500.00)
- Quad City Botanical Center — Non-profit rental assistance ($3,000.00)
- RICCA — Replace two furnaces ($2,000.00)
- River Bend Food Bank — Student Hunger Drive awards ($3,500.00)
- Sherrard Academic Foundation — Classroom Materials/supplies ($2,000.00)
- St Joseph The Worker House Assoc — Emergency supplies ($2,000.00)
- The Literacy Connection — Monthly family literacy nights ($1,400.00)
- USO of Illinois — Rock Island Arsenal youth programs ($3,000.00)
- Wilson Middle School — Family/Community reading group supplies for 6th-8th grade students ($2,500.00)
- WQPT — Public Television Quad Cities — Antenna/signal expansion ($25,000.00)
- Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley — New HVAC system ($10,000.00)
- Bethany for Children and Families — Pregnancy prevention program ($10,000.00)
- ARC of Rock Island County — New group home ($10,000.00)
- First Tee of the Quad Cities — New passenger van ($7,500.00)
- Empower House QCA — Brain injury outpatient program ($5,000.00)
- Friends of Douglas Park — Restroom and ball fields remodeling ($10,000.00)
- Friendship Manor — Memory care apartment renovations ($10,000.00)
- Habitat for Humanity QC — Home build and repairs ($20,000.00)
- Heritage Church — Handicapped ramp for community center and non-profit offices ($15,000.00)
- Humility of Mary Shelter — Homeless and household support ($15,000.00)
- New Kingdom Trailriders — Therapeutic riding for special needs children ($5,000.00)
- Moline Township — Concert in the Park summer program ($5,200.00)
- Youth Service Bureau of RI County — Family therapy program ($10,000.00)
- Youth Hope — Moline Youth Center roof repair ($15,000.00)
- Two Rivers Y — Slide for warm water pool ($15,000.00)
- WVIK-FM — Public radio programs ($5,000.00)
- Supplemental Emergency Assistance Program — Emergency assistance for 50 households ($8,500.00)
- QC Chamber of Commerce — Economic development ($10,000.00)
- Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities — Therapy swings ($8,500.00)
- Mercer County Family YMCA — New facility upgrades ($10,000.00)
- Project Graduation — Moline High School post graduation activities at Two Rivers Y ($2,000.00)
TOTAL: $273,165 + $30,000 = $303,165
Other grants from Field 0f Interest and Donor Advised Funds. Applications for the Community Needs Grant Program are accepted twice per year. The remaining 2019 Grant deadline is Friday, September 27, 2019.
