CLINTON, IOWA (May 23, 2019) — The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center, "Clinton, Iowa's Children's Museum," is ending May in a great way with these events and activities. Make a special patriotic suncatcher on WOW Wednesday. Then, jump around at Funtime Friday. Each of these programs is free with regular museum admission or membership. Felix Adler Day, on June 15, is almost here.
WOW Wednesday
Wednesday, May 29, 2-5PM, is a WOW Wednesday at the Discovery Center, sponsored by US Bank Foundation. Stop by the big red Please-Touch-Table to make a patriotic suncatcher to help celebrate Memorial Day.
WOW Wednesday is perfect for school-aged kids and their families and is a great activity for a school break, early out and homeschoolers. WOW Wednesday is drop in with no pre-registration required — it is an enrichment program with no extra class-fee.
Miss Jean is also here every WOW Wednesday, with her chess, juggling, and logic-puzzles. Miss Jean teaches beginning-chess to all, from preschoolers through adult, or she will play a strategic game with an opponent to match their skill-level. Additionally, she loves to juggle and can teach anyone of any age to become a successful juggler. Also, she has on hand three large cases of logic puzzles, construction materials, and hands-on brain-teasers to fascinate any age. She can teach anyone; all ages and abilities are welcome.
Funtime Friday
Friday, May 31, at 10AM, is Funtime Friday, sponsored by Clinton Kiwanis Club and Alliant Energy Foundation. Jump and soar as you have so much fun in the bounce houses. You wouldn’t even know you’re exercising. As always, there will be a snack to go along with the theme. This popular program is designed for preschoolers and their grown-ups, although all age children are welcome anytime, especially during school-breaks and summer vacations.
Felix Adler Day, June 15
Saturday, June 15, is the 30th annual Felix Adler Day. This yearly celebration is in honor of Frank B “Felix” Adler, who was a famous clown from Clinton, Iowa, and the inspiration for the Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center. Held in June to coincide with Felix’s birthday, this is the largest event the Discovery Center holds.
Join the Discovery Center — rain or shine — with free admission to the Discovery Center and the festival grounds. There will be plenty of family fun to be had and things to explore, both on the festival grounds and in the museum. This includes: pony-rides, petting-zoo, trackless train-rides, live stage-shows, inflatable bouncy-houses, game-tent with prizes every time, face-painting, balloon-artists, professional clowns, and a food booth by the Futon Kiwanis Club, with all proceeds going to the Discovery Center.
The festival is sponsored by more than 30 generous area businesses including: Sethness Caramel Color, Pizza Ranch, Clinton Herald (Media Contributor), The Insurance Group and West Bend Mutual Insurance Company, Lumberkings, RHA Service, Bridgeview Community Mental Health, Citizens First Bank, Colony Brands and SC Contact Center, First Gateway Credit Union, First Wealth Financial Group, JT Cullen, Loyal Order of Moose — Clinton Lodge #363, Michael Callan DDS MS PC, Petersen Sanitary Cleaning, Sisters of St Francis, Virdi Eye Clinic of Iowa, Cornerstone Wellness, Custom-Pak, Employers Service Bureau Inc, James F Voss Agency/American Family Insurance, KROS AM — FM, MaC94.7 — KCLN, Nutrition Plus, Pape Funeral Home, Sterling Federal Bank, WA-TAN-YE, Westgate Orthodontic Group, Windmill Realty, and Women of the Moose Chapter 474.
