CLINTON, IOWA (February 28, 2019) — The Felix Adler Children's Discovery Center, "Clinton, Iowa's Children's Museum," is having a yummy March with these events and activities. Create colorful Skittles science art on WOW Wednesday. Then, explore with Dr. Seuss on the loose at Funtime Friday. Each of these programs is free with regular admission or museum membership. Also save the date for the egg-cellent annual Omelet Breakfast at the Discovery Center on Sunday, March 24.
WOW Wednesday
Wednesday, March 6, 2-5PM, is a WOW Wednesday at the Discovery Center, sponsored by US Bank Foundation. Make swirly, colorful art from Skittles with a bit of science. WOW Wednesday is perfect for school-aged kids and their families and is a great activity for a winter day with school early out. WOW Wednesday is drop in with no pre-registration required — it is a “class” with no extra class fee.
Every WOW Wednesday also brings Miss Jean, with her chess, juggling and logic puzzles. Her new construction set is Joinks, so come check it out.
Funtime Friday
Friday, March 8, at 10AM, is Funtime Friday, sponsored by Clinton Kiwanis Club and Alliant Energy Foundation. Oh, the places we’ll go and the thing’s we’ll do exploring with Dr Seuss on the loose. Funtime Friday always includes the children enjoying a tasty snack. This popular program is designed for preschoolers and their grown-ups, although all age children are welcome anytime.
Sundays with Miss Jean
Sunday, March 10, 2-5PM, is Sunday with Miss Jean. She is here on the second and fourth Sunday afternoons of each month, and you can join her for juggling, chess, and logic puzzles. She teaches beginning chess to all, from preschoolers through adult, or she will play a strategic game with an opponent to match their skill level. Additionally, she loves to juggle and can teach anyone of any age to become a successful juggler. Also, Sweeney has on hand three large cases of logic puzzles, construction materials, and hands on brain teasers to fascinate any age. She can teach anyone; all ages and abilities are welcome.
Annual Omelet Breakfast
Save the date for the egg-traordinary 31st annual Omelet Breakfast Fundraiser held at the Discovery Center, on Sunday, March 24, 8AM-1PM. This is one egg-cellent opportunity to enjoy delicious food, good company, and support your local children’s museum. "Celebrity" chefs will be serving made-to-order omelets and other delicious fare. The ticket price includes admission to the children's museum and guests are invited to stay and play. Tickets are on sale now at the Discovery Center: $9 in advance for adults and teens, and $10 at the door; $5 for children ages four to 12 years; and free for children ages three and younger.
The Discovery Center is located at 332 8th Avenue South in downtown Clinton, Iowa, at the foot of the US 30 Bridge over the mighty Mississippi — where the Lincoln Highway meets the Great River Road. They are open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 9:30AM-5PM, and Sundays, 12:30-5PM. Museum admission is $4 per person ages two to 64, $3 per person ages 65 and older, free for children one and younger, and free for members of the children's museum.
