Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 East Second Street, Davenport IA
Quad City Arts Center Gallery, 1715 Second Avenue, Rock Island IL
For the first time, Quad City Arts and MidCoast Fine Arts have collaborated to produce a bi-state, regional art exhibition, with the works on display chosen from submissions sent from artists throughout a 250-mile radius of the Quad Cities.
Artists were invited to submit works in any medium that related to the theme of “Out & About” in relation to the Great Outdoors – artworks that showed what their creators saw when they were walking, bike riding, boating, hiking, bird watching, or merely daydreaming. Opening in conjunction with the Quad Cities' inaugural Alternating Currents festival, the joint exhibition will be housed both at Quad City Arts' Rock Island venue and the Bucktown Center for the Arts' Casement Gallery, and will feature dozens of artworks in mediums including painting, acrylics, photography, and more.
Artists included in the full exhibition are: Karen Blomme, Catlynn Byrd, Jane Coultas, Susan Doran, Jane Doty, Iyla Ferguson, Pat Halverson, Kay Irelan, Holly Kimball, Kathleen Lenaghan, Nancy Lindsay, Julie Malake, Mick McFerren, Rich Mengel, Lori Miller, Emily Newman, Pam Ohnemus, Lori Roderick, Heather Seibel, Barry Sharp, Zaiga Minka Thorson, and Laurie Zaiger.
Opening receptions will be held at both venes at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 25, and more information on Out & About is available by visiting MidCoast.org and QuadCityArts.com.
