Rock Island, IL – Summer can be a harsh time in the Quad City area. As the temperature and heat indexes rise in the Quad Cities, more and more members of our community are struggling to stay cool, yet they lack the resources to do so. Christian Care is dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate by opening its doors as an Emergency Cooling Center during those days when the temperature is above 90 degrees. Those needing assistance are welcome between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. seven days a week. The cooling center is located at Christian Care’s Rescue Mission at 2209 3rd Avenue, Rock Island, IL.
Christian Care is transforming the lives of homeless individuals, victims of domestic violence, veterans, men and women coming out of prison and those with mental illness. Their facilities provide safe shelter, nutritious food, clothing, counseling, referrals and guidance to our residents, as well as to other individuals in need. The organization also serves as a meal site; last year they provided 60,000 hot meals to hungry residents and community members.
Christian Care’s services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the goal of nourishing the bodies, minds, hearts and souls of the men, women and children who come seeking a new way of life.
