Quad Cities: Get ready to listen to amazing music, watch wonderful theatrical performances, laugh until you cry, and wish you had kept those old ballet shoes.

Cities Live Month begins April 1 and runs through April 30!  It’s a brand new celebration to hit the streets of the Quad Cities.  Concerts, plays, Broadway, dance, comedy and more can be found at more than 90 events taking place at various venues during the month of April.

Classical music, rock, blues, folk, big band and other musical styles will delight your ears.  Comedy and burlesque shows will bring laughter to your evenings, and wonderful plays and a ballet performance will keep you applauding for more.

Check out the Quad Cities Live website www.quadcitieslive.com to find out about every single event taking place, when, where, what time, and how much.  Feel free to download or print the event program that lists all of the events, descriptions, and a map showing the locations of each performance venue.  An (E) next to a listing means it is entertainment for everyone – family-friendly.  The site also features a searchable calendar to make it easy to find specific performances taking place on any given day during the month of April.

Here are just a few of the shows, concerts and events taking place during Quad Cities Live Month!

Enjoy the long running comedy whodunit, “Shear Madness”, at Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse.  Each show features a different outcome.  The show has been running for over 30 years in Boston and 26 years at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Also, be sure to catch such plays as “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”; “Uncle” the world premiere of a new comedy by Pulitzer nominated playwright Lee Blessing; a comedy madcap called “The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)”; the Davenport Junior Theatre’s production of “The Magical Lamp of Aladdin”; Quad City Music Guild’s “My Favorite Year”; and Broadway at the Adler Theatre with “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.

Comedy is also part of the fun with “ComedySportz” and “Studio Series” at the Establishment Theatre in Rock Island.  Catch the “After Hour with Andrew King – Quad Cities Late Night Talk Show”, “Quad City Lip Sync Battle”, and “Bottom’s Up Quad City Burlesque” at Rock Island’s Speakeasy.

Musical performances include amazing bands and workshops at the River Music Experience/Redstone Room, Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience at the Rogalski Center, and a Quad City Symphony family concert featuring The Magical Music of Disney with animated film images synchronized with the music.

There’s Big Band music too, as the Manny Lopez Band takes the stage at the Speakeasy.  The iWireless Center will also feature two major concerts with Toby Mac on one night, followed by Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago together in concert later in the week.

You can also step into an old-fashioned radio variety program with Bucktown Revue! Performed live in front of an audience and recorded for webcast this show is in the tradition of such programs as “A Prairie Home Companion” and the “Grand Ole Opry”.  You’ll enjoy the music and comedy of this fun-filled musical show.

The Quad City Symphony Orchestra will perform Masterworks VI: The Resurrection. This massive moving symphony features soprano Linh Kauffman, mezzo-soprano Adriana Zabala, and the Quad City Choral Arts and Handel Oratorio Society.

Additionally, the Quad City Symphony will present an all new event called QCSO Family Music Carnival at the RiverCenter in Davenport.  This promises to be a fun-filled weekend for the whole family as music and the arts are celebrated with a “Palooza” Performance Stage, and Fun Zone activities including a musical instrument petting zoo, create-your-own childhood time capsule, make-up-a-song, dance-me-a-story and more. Admission is free.

Dance and music go great together, especially when it’s ballet!  Ballet Quad Cities along with Iowa Orchestra will present Russian Fairy Tales at the Adler Theatre.

This is just a sampling of the over 90 events you will find during Quad Cities Live Month.  For a full list, their dates and descriptions, visit www.quadcitieslive.com.
