The last day to sign up for MarketPlace health insurance is January 31st and The Project of the Quad Cities’ In-Person Counselors are extending their hours to help consumers enroll in health insurance plans that fit their financial and health needs before the deadline.
On Saturday January 30th and Sunday January 31st, In-Person counselors will be available from 8:00AM to 10:00PM at TPQC headquarters, located at 2316 5th Avenue in Moline. Walk-ins are welcome, but we encourage individuals to schedule an appointment in advance by calling (309)762-5433.
Also, TPQC has a 24 hour access line that consumers can call any time of day to get help with website related questions, insurance terminology or to set up an appointment. We want to ensure that people who work outside of typical business hours are able to access local help. The number for the 24 hour access line is (309)269-9306.
It is important to note that after January 31, 2016, you cannot buy a health insurance plan for the rest of 2016 unless you have a life changing event — like having a baby, getting married, or losing other health coverage — that qualifies you for a Special Enrollment Period.
Additionally, the fee for not having health coverage will increase for 2016 to 2.5% of your yearly household income or $695 per person ($347.50 per child under 18), whichever is greater. The maximum penalty per family is $2,085. Penalties will be applied to 2017 tax return.
