PORT BYRON, Ill. – State Rep. Mike Smiddy, D-Hillsdale, joined the Morrison Rotary Club on Wednesday, Dec. 30 to hear about their work in the community and to provide an update on the current budget negotiations in Springfield.
“The Rotary Club is a great organization that provides services to communities across our region and the world, and I want to thank the members of the Morrison Rotary Club for allowing me to join them to discuss the issues taking place at the state level,” Smiddy said. “Civic organizations are an important part of what makes our towns so great, and I’m always happy to join this group for a meeting and provide whatever information I can from Springfield.”
Rotary clubs exist worldwide and consist of business, professional and community leaders. They are dedicated to community service and fellowship in the communities they serve. Morrison’s Rotary Club was first organized in April of 1924 and is currently led by President Louis Clark. Smiddy joined the club for their December meeting to discuss the ongoing budget issues in Illinois’ Capitol, hear their suggestions about ways to improve the community and outline his priorities for the 2016 Spring Legislative.
