· Radiohead fans get a double dose of heaven this Tuesday as the group's new album, Hail to the Thief, hits store shelves, alongside a fantastic new CD of classical-piano interpretations of the band's songs. This virtuoso project by pianist Christopher O'Riley is simply stunning, and worthy of the highbrow Sony/Odyssey imprint. From cascading runs and softly stroked keys that echo the pensive wail of Radiohead vocalist Thom Yorke on "Bulletproof," to the rolling churn of "Everything in Its Right Place," playfully reminiscent of Vince Guaraldi's Charlie Brown melodies, the 15-song collection is handsomely selected and arranged. Look for O'Riley to tour throughout September, with about half the performances dedicated to Radiohead material. Other standout tracks include O'Riley's haunting take on "Fake Plastic Trees," "Exit Music (for a Film)," and "Motion Picture Soundtrack." Other Radiohead overload delights can be found on the first U.K. CD single of "There, There," featuring two non-LP tracks.

· Smiths vocalist Morrissey is the debut artist in DMC Records' new series of CDs sharing the songs that molded the artist's personal musical direction. Entitled Under the Influence, the new series is due Tuesday and follows the label's other successful series, Back to Mine, with after-hours chill-down tracks personally selected by star DJs and musicians. Peeling back Morrissey's roots makes for interesting connections, with selections such as Klaus Nomi's "Death," Tyrannosaurus Rex's "Great Horse," Nico's "All That Is My Own," and Patti Smith's take on "Hey Joe." Look for other such compilations to follow from Ian Brown of the Stone Roses and the duo Death in Vegas.
