Following a two-year hiatus for the popular summertime event, the Quad City Air Show roars back above and throughout the Davenport Municipal Airport on June 29 and 30, the exhilarating aerial celebration featuring airborne performances, aerobatic teams, helicopters, squadrons, information booths, vendors, and more.

Annual explosions of fun will be taking place at both Davenport's Modern Woodmen Park and Rock Island's Schwiebert Riverfront Park when the Quad Cities hosts its Fourth of July celebration Red, White, & Boom!, the July 3 event delivering a spectacular fireworks display over the Mississippi River as well as live music, food and beverage vendors, special presentations, family programming, and more.

Comic books, video and board games, tournaments, cosplay competitions, and loads of special guests will be on hand when Bettendorf's TBK Sports Complex hosts the June 21 through 23 convention Planet Funk Con 2019, a weekend event housing entertainment and shopping opportunities for connoisseurs and collectors of all ages.

Performing June 7 through 9, company members of Ballet Quad Cities bring their annual, eagerly awaited performances of Ballet Under the Stars vignettes back to Rock Island's Lincoln Park. In an era in which video games and cartoons take up a lot of children’s time, Bettendorf's Family Museum is prepared to combat childhood inertia with its new summer exhibition Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action, the interactive exhibit – running June 8 through September 8 – in which children and adults can explore activities such as kung fu, surfing, snowboarding, yoga, and horizontal climbing.

Two bona-fide entertainment legends team up for one unforgettable night at Davenport's Adler Theatre on June 9, with iconic comedians and musicians Steve Martin and Martin Short presenting new material in a variety of sketches and conversations about their careers, memorable encounters, show-business lives in the touring sensation “Now You See Them, Soon You Won't.”

Delivering what Moeller Nights bills as “a weekend of professional wrestling, world-class comedy, and part rock-and-roll,” retired WWE sensational Ric Flair headlines a special two-night event at East Moline's The Rust Belt on May 31 and June 1, a Turnbuckle and SCW Fitness presentation celebrating the sports legend whose credits include an appearance in Magic Mike XXL and serving as the subject for ESPN's 30 for 30 episode “Nature Boy.”

A television and film star whose credits include Heroes, Veronica Mars, and 10 Things I Hate About You makes a special appearance at the Davenport Public Library's Fairmount Street branch on May 30, when actress, author, and Davenport North High School alumna Dana Davis reads from, discusses, and signs copies of her most recent novel The Voice in My Head, scheduled for release on May 28.

Hosted by the Quad Cities Bicycle Club and beginning at 9 a.m., an eagerly anticipated Memorial Day tradition returns for its 54th year in the May 27 Quad Cities Kwik Star Criterium – a Village of East Davenport event featuring hundreds of adult and youth cyclists participating in 12 bicycle races, with over $10,000 in cash prizes awarded throughout the day.
