A grants submission deadline has been announced by the Moline Community Foundation. Non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply if they serve the citizens of Moline and the surrounding region, including the Quad Cities.

All materials necessary to receive funds are due in The Moline Foundation offices by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009 or must be postmarked by or on Friday, January 30, 2009.

Any non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, including those who have never received Moline Foundation funding in the past, is welcome to apply.

An application should consist of a written request stating the name and address of the organization, its mission, names and addresses of Board members, financial statement, balance sheet, and the specific purpose for which any money received would be used including a project budget. The name, telephone number, and email of a contact person must also be included. The requested materials should be mailed according to the above deadline. MILWAUKEE - With the balance of LA Weight Loss centers closing across the country, TOPS Club, Inc. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), the nation's oldest weight-loss education and support organization, is inviting former LA Weight Loss members to attend a TOPS meeting free of charge. 

TOPS recently celebrated 60 years of weight-loss support and success.  Members of TOPS embrace its philosophy of healthy eating, regular exercise, wellness education, and support from others at weekly chapter meetings.  The fee for an annual membership is $26.  On joining TOPS, members receive a complimentary copy of "My Day One," a booklet which features a six-week plan to kick-off the weight loss journey.

Davenport, IA - What could be better on a cold mid-winter night than a warm evening of Mozart! The Quad City Symphony celebrates the 253rd birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with its annual Mid-Winter Chamber Music concert at the Outing Club in Davenport on Saturday, January 17, at 8 pm. The concert features Concertmaster Allen Ohmes, Associate Concertmaster Dawn Marino-Ohmes, Principal Viola Deborah Dakin, new Principal Cello Hannah Holman, and, for his first time performing cello in the Quad Cities, new Music Director Mark Russell Smith. The evening repertoire will include Mozart's Quartet in B-Flat Major and Schuberts's String Quintet in C Major.
