DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 8, 2022) Gilda’s Club is hosting a FREE educational workshop entitled “Let’s Talk About Mental Health: Brain Health Workshop” for anyone impacted by cancer on Thursday, September 22, 2022, 6-7:30PM, at Gilda’s Club Quad Cities Davenport Clubhouse located at 1351 W Central Park Ave, Suite 200, Davenport, Iowa, 52804.

In today's world, mental health and suicide-prevention must become a top priority. As suicide is a leading cause of death in Americans, it's also the most preventable. How do we even begin to make a difference? With the right tools and resources, the power of community can help heal our broken world, one person at a time. It starts right here. It starts with you.

Join speaker and presenter Haley DeGreve for this workshop. Haley is a John Deere Communications Specialist and 2020 graduate of Augustana College, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Communication Studies. Throughout her education, she was inspired to start a mental-health awareness and suicide-prevention non-profit called The Gray Matters Collective in 2018. The collective became a movement filled with hope, support, and healing for thousands — becoming a nationally-recognized movement through the University of Michigan Depression Center.

Since she began mental-health advocacy in 2018, she’s spoken at many local schools, events, and workplaces to advocate against mental-health stigma and educate crisis intervention. In the past two years alone, she has spoken to over 50,000 people globally on the topic. She also launched a podcast called Surviving the Suck, generating conversations about the reality of mental illness and surviving hardship. This podcast was recently ranked top 10% globally on topics related to mental health and suicide.

As founder and president of The Gray Matters Collective, has been trained in Mental Health First Aid USA, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and is a Make It Ok ambassador through Iowa's Healthiest State Initiative. In March 2022, she gave a TEDx talk on Mental Health, Suicide Prevention, and The Power of Community. Most importantly, she continues to fight each day to prevent suicide and hopes to change the world, one person at a time.

This program is being offered hybrid. Participants can register to attend in-person or virtually via Zoom. Registration is REQUIRED. Workshop will be held at our Davenport Clubhouse at 1351 W Central Park Ave, Suite 200, Davenport, Iowa, 52801.
