Currently touring in support of their latest album Spinning the Truth Around, a 2022 recording that Sputnik Music called "a powerful new statement from a seasoned band," the alternative rockers of Blue October will headline a March 2 concert event as East Moline venue The Rust Belt, their 25-year repertoire boasting 17 top-40 singles and such chart-topping studio albums as Any Man in America, Sway, and Home.

Composed of bass player Bob Skeat, guitarist Mark Abrahams, drummer Mike Trescott, and guitarist Andy Powell, the latter of whom began recording with the group more than 50 years ago, a legendary rock outfit plays Davenport's Redstone Room in the venue's March 7 concert with Wishbone Ash, the band's Live Dates Live tour celebrating the iconic recording that reviewers have consistently listed among the finest live-rock albums of all time.

Acclaimed for popularizing the Quebradita dancing style and with more than 20 albums to their collective credit, the Mexican musicians of Banda Machos play a headlining engagement at Davenport's Rhythm City Casino Resort Event Center on March 4, the group's credits including multiple gold and platinum records and an appearance in the Francis Ford Coppola-produced film My Family.

With Relix magazine stating that "the band combines soulful ambiance with nimble twangin'" and Marquee magazine adding that its musicians are "going deep, and doing so gracefully," the Colorado-based string musicians of Head for the Hills headline a March 2 concert at Davenport's Redstone Room is advance of their newest EP Turn the Time, set for release on March 22.

Lauded by Cleveland magazine for their "historical preservation and top-notch musicianship" and by New Frontiers as a group that "bridges the divide between native and first-generation ancestors to the current descendants," the Italian-folk musicians of Alla Boara serve as the latest guests in the Quad City Arts Visiting Artists series, their February 27 through March 3 concerts demonstrating why The Jambor called their sound "a journey that takes you in and makes you forget where you are."

Boasting performances from Augustana College faculty members, students, and guest artists, the college's Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival will, on February 25, treat music lovers to an exploration of the saxophone's potential through new composition, improvisation, extended performance techniques, microtonality, electronic music, multimedia, and other experimental elements.

Though largely known as a venue for singer/songwriters and scaled-down indie rock, Davenport's Raccoon Motel has been a consistent host for metal bands of varying extremity and national and regional renown. Thirty years on, black metal has come to be about more than lo-fi recording, buzzsaw guitars, and hatred for Christianity. Even in its tumultuous infancy, reverence for and celebration of nature was an inspiration for many bands, tying in with their pagan leanings. Following close behind was a folk music influence, with or without the use of acoustic instruments. These influences caught on like a forest fire, and in 2023 are commonplace. In context, then, the show at the Raccoon Motel in Davenport on Saturday, February 25 is not quite as outlandish as it may appear on the surface.
