The first Monday of September is always Labor Day which happens to be September 5th this year. Well, September 5th also happens to be Jury Rights Day. in commemoration of the William Penn case in 1670 which firmly established protection for the jury, and firmly established the right of the jurors to refuse to accept bad government laws. Labor Day tends to be more commonly recognized by Americans than Jury Rights Day. Labor Day is so popular with Americans, that there is sure to be a parade in town somewhere celebrating the holiday.

Members of the local Ron Paul meetup and the local Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA) are teaming up together to educate the large crowds that will be gathered together to watch East Moline's Labor Day parade this morning from 11AM - 1PM. The group will be both promoting Ron Paul for President and promoting Jury Rights Day via banners and signs. Although Labor Day overshadows Jury Rights Day, the groups believe this provides for a unique opportunity to promote the importance of jury rights in our system of government.

Rafe Thrasher, a Ron Paul supporter in Illinois said, "Ron Paul is a huge promoter and educator of jury rights, so it makes sense that we join forces with the local Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA) and help them promote Jury Rights Day in a Labor Day parade." The members of either group are brought together through the Illinois Liberty Alliance and can be contacted through the SuperLiberty.com website.

The second edition of the Concerned Citizen newsletter has just been released over the weekend. Created by members of Iowans For Accountability (IFA), the first edition of the newsletter covered local political issues in Scott County, Iowa such as the 911 dispatching consolidation project, sustainable development, Fully Informed Jury Information (FIJA), had a suggested reading list, a schedule of local liberty meetings and government meetings, and even a local politician directory. 5,000 copies were printed and distributed. The second edition is now available to the public and can either be delivered or be picked up at the River Cities Reader building at 532 w 3rd st in Davenport. If you require delivery, please call Michael Elliott at (563)570-5395.

This second edition covers topics like the Bi-State Regional Commission, an open letter to the Scott County Grand Jurors, the IFA YouTube channel information, a new suggested reading list, and the new meeting schedules. These newsletters not only inform Scott county residents of important political issues in their local area, but also act as a way to give them a voice on various local issues that may not be covered by other media outlets in the Quad City Area. These newsletters are made possible by donations made out to Iowans For Accountability (IFA) which can be mailed to PO Box 514, Blue Grass, IA 52726 or dropped off at the River Cities Reader as listed above.

Both, the first issue and the second are available online as well. First addition is available here at http://www.scribd.com/doc/54185285/The-Concerned-Citizen-Vol-1-Issue-1, and the newly released second edition's link is here at http://www.scribd.com/doc/63923542/Scott-County-IFA-s-Concerned-Citizen-Sep-Oct-2011-Edition.

In a recent effort to keep the public better informed of the what goes on behind the scenes of the local liberty movement in the Quad Cities, the old SuperLibertyTV that used to broadcast shows on local access cable channel 19 a couple years ago has been revived and is getting more digitized now. By using the broadcasting website Ustream.tv in conjunction with the facebook social network, SuperLiberty is able to broadcast its meetings live, keep an archived record, and spread the information digitally around to its members, the local media, and on social networks.

A SuperLiberty meeting was broadcasted live online for the first time ever and available for anyone to watch and listen in. The live pilot broadcast was not publicly advertised so there were no actual live viewers present. However, the public is being encouraged to view the recorded file online for themselves at http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/17046018 if they are interested in what was covered during the SuperLiberty meeting.

Had there been online viewers present, they would have been able to actually interact with the Chairman during the meeting via a live chat feed feature and this, in effect makes the meeting reach beyond the walls of the Downtown Davenport Public Library basement film room for future broadcasts. "This is a great opportunity for folks who maybe cannot necessarily be physically present during our meetings,to still be able to watch, listen, and even participate in our meetings! I'm really excited about the potential this has in its future use." explained Michael Elliott, Founder and Chairman of both Iowans For Accountability (IFA) and SuperLiberty.

Stay tuned and plugged into the web for more from this local political broadcasting group as it utilizes the full potential of live broadcasting through the marriage of internet social networking and digital technology.

From the very conservative to the very liberal, the SuperLiberty group here in the Quad-Cities offers local residents essentially a buffet of local liberty groups in which to participate. The meetup.com online service offers the loose coalition of differentiating groups a local centralized location for each of the organizers an option to post their own groups activities and events on the SuperLiberty calendar. The SuperLiberty.com website displays 92 liberty leader members, 18 group reviews, 18 upcoming scheduled events, and 336 past events since December 2008.

Twice a month (the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, 10am at the Downtown Davenport Library Film Room) the organizers from each of the groups have an opportunity to come and represent their group at a sort of round table, in order to discuss their only common denominator, personal liberty from over reaching governments. The various groups represented in this local liberty alliance are; Iowa Society For Educated Citizens, Quad Cities Civil Liberties Watch Group (Formerly the local ACLU chapter), Tea Party of the QC, Campaign For Liberty, Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA), NORML, Articles of Freedom CC2009, Oath-keepers, Republic of the United States of America, and Iowans For Accountability (IFA).

It is here at these public meetings that folks can learn about each group and how they can become a part of the local action. Among the18 group reviews listed online, Veronica Deevers posted, "Being new, I just listened and absorbed so I could acclimate myself more quickly to the people and their knowledge base. This is a very well versed and educated group of people who are dedicated to restoring the republic. If you have ANY concerns about this county, ANY concerns about what kind of world you will be leaving your children or grandchildren, you MUST attend. Even if you do not feel like you are 100% up on everything...even if you do not know the Constitution or the Bill of Rights that well....COME. Learn! Be a patriot! Take up that sword of truth and put on the shield of valor. There is no better kind of high."

If you are an organizer of a local political group or just a concerned citizen in the Quad Cities and want to do more or learn more about the liberty movement locally, then this a good place to start.
