Fyre Lake Golf is gaining new ownership under a partnership between local family businessmen Larry Whitty, President of Happy Joe's, and Mike Thoms, former co-owner of Thoms Proestler Company. The golf operation will continue as is until a liquor license can be obtained by the new ownership.

Located in Sherrard, Illinois, Fyre Lake Golf's lush grass covers expansive greens. With eighteen holes along stunning Fyre Lake, the Nicklaus-designed golf course bodes a picturesque golfers paradise ten miles south of the Quad Cities.

The golf course includes a fully-stocked clubhouse with food and beverage, as well as league play and memberships drawing in a 150-mile area. We will be honoring catering on the course and especially the Island Green with great opportunities for weddings and private events.

Corporate sponsorships for the tee box are available to those that are interested. Please contact Fyre Lake Golf.

Both the Whitty and Thoms families have been successful business operators around the Midwest and this local area for many years. Happy Joe's has been a successful family business for over 4 decades. With 53 locations and continual expansion, Happy Joe's is a promising local company and President Larry Whitty is ready to expand their business skills into other management endeavors.

Mike Thoms, former owner ofTPC/PFS (Performance Food Service), a growing food distribution service supply company located in the Quad Cities, has now ventured into development. Thoms plans to continue investing and developing in the region.

Together they are bringing their careful stability and positive news to Fyre Lake. The new partnership takes over ownership of the real estate on June 2nd and the operations when the liquor license is issued to the new operators. "There has been a lot of groundwork laid before now that didn't have the chance to see its way to fruition and we intend to see it through," stated Larry Whitty, President of Happy Joe's.

Currently, the new team's main goal for the course is to provide a positive, stimulating transition of ownership for golfers and local residents. The golf course, already in impeccable condition, will only improve under new ownership. The business team's long-term plans for Fyre Lake Golf include :

Greens to rival the best in the area.

Implementing meticulous upkeep of the course.

Clubhouse enhancements.

Building a catering and special events venue like no other.

Drawing golfers from 150 mile radius.

Creating a stimulating golf environment for the community.

The Whitty-Thoms partnership hopes that their planned actions will create an updated bustling venue that matches the grand courses. Both entrepreneurs are excited to become contributing neighbors of the Sherrard community. They hope to tum Fyre Lake Golf Course into a trophy in the small community and create lasting relationships with local residents. There is an interest in seeking investors to assist the current owner (who recently bought the lots at a sheriffs sale) in lot development surrounding the golf course.

An open house is scheduled for Sunday, June 28th , 3pm. You're invited to come and see what we have to offer. A $40 contribution to the Happy Joe's Kids Foundation will allow you to play 18 holes of golf (including a Cat1), a buffet dinner, and beverages. Private tours can also be arranged for those who would like a special viewing of the grounds. Whitty and Thoms will be on site to visit with guests.

Whitty and Thoms encourage interested residents to visit Frye Lake Golf Course during its peak summer months to help welcome in a new era of high quality management to a high quality course.

Happy Joe's began experimenting with expanding the brand several years ago. We added a quaint bar to the Maquoketa location and later revamped the location in Eldridge introducing a new concept called 350 Grille. Both of these projects helped give Happy Joe's the insight we needed to launch our next big thing, the Happy Joe's PIZZAGRILLE! The mission of the PIZZAGRILLE concept is to continue to provide all of the Happy Joe's favorites our guests have grown to love, while including new and exciting offerings to get more guests inside the restaurant ,and appeal to a lifestyle shift that requires more variety and convenience.

The first official PIZZAGRILLE is located at 1616 West Locust Street, former home of The Chef's Hat Pizza. This new Happy Joe's PIZZAGRILLE has many unique offerings including pub fare and an entirely new grille menu featuring a line of gourmet burgers, pork tenderloin sandwiches, new unique salads and sandwiches, salmon, steak, and prime rib.  We've also brought back the popular Chef's Hat pizza! There's a convenient drive up window at this location. That's right! You can now get Chef's Hat pizza at both the West Locust Street and Bettendorf Happy Joe's locations. There's a convenient drive-up window at the West Locust Street location, and nearly all of our offerings are available for pick-up and delivery.

The new PIZZAGRILLE sports our new TAP ROOM with a variety of craft beers on tap and a full bar. Guests can enjoy over 20 flat screen TVs to watch their favorite game. To satisfy your sweet tooth we've included Joegurt, our line of frozen yogurt, with 6 rotating flavors at all times, that can be topped with a variety of sweets from our toppings bar. Joegurt tastes just like rich ice cream, but it's better for you with fewer calories, more calcium, and probiotics!

The second PIZZAGRILLE project opened at 909 West 4th Street in Milan, IL and includes a special entrance for carryout orders. Both restaurants also offer omelet pizzas which have become a very popular morning item for our guests.

Both locations deliver and have online ordering and the reviews from fans have been stellar.  Kristel Ersan, Marketing Director for Happy Joe's, stated, "The new Happy Joe's PizzaGrills are just another evolution to ensure Happy Joe's continues to offer our guests new and exciting ways to enjoy our brand.  The positive responses we've received from our guests have been incredible and we will continue to expand into more locations."

The 2014 Happy Joe's Kids Foundation calendar celebrating the Midwestern seasons will be unveiled on Thursday, November 7th at a brief program at Valley Bank, 2020 East Kimberly.  The program will begin at 5:15p and conclude no later than 6:30p.  The calendar features photos taken by regional photographers and the 2014 calendar features the beauty, the challenges, and the recreational opportunities that our seasons offer us.

In commemoration of Happy Joe's 40th year in business last November, and as a way to give back to our communities, we founded a non-profit organization, the Happy Joe's Kids Foundation. The intent of this foundation is to raise funds for special needs children and their families across the Midwest.  For more information on what we do, please visit www.happyjoeskids.org.

Valley Bank sponsors the calendar program and each year a calendar is created to benefit a regional non-profit organization.  Twenty thousand calendars are produced and the beneficiary uses these to promote their organization's mission. Happy Joe Whitty states, "We appreciate Valley Bank giving us the opportunity to promote the Happy Joe's Kids Foundation. We will be able to spread the word to many, with a reminder about the foundation every time they look at the calendar!"

Happy Joe's has launched a new frozen yogurt concept, appropriately named Joegurt. Joegurt was first introduced at the Bettendorf location June 17th and has been receiving rave reviews. Now the company has opened the second Joegurt location in the upper level at the Happy Joe's located at 201 W. 50th Street in Davenport. Joegurt is real frozen yogurt that tastes like decadent ice cream. Both locations offer 10?12 flavors and 5?6 twist options. Some of the flavors offered are Tahitian Vanilla, Strawberry Sensation, Harvest Peach, Cookies 'n Cream, Red Velvet Cake, Birthday Cake, Cappuccino, and a non?dairy Orange Sorbet. Many of the flavors offered are also gluten?free. Joegurt contains probiotics which are healthy bacteria that are good for general digestive health. It also has fewer calories and less cholesterol than ice cream. Kristel Whitty?Ersan, Marketing Director for Happy Joe's, stated, "This is basically like really good ice cream without the guilt! Our guests seem to love it and we've seen many return visits just for the Joegurt."

The way Joegurt works is you fill your own cup with the Joegurt flavor(s) of your choice and then visit a toppings bar where you can add fresh fruit, candies, granola, nuts, and cookies, and there are three flavors of Ghirardelli syrups available. Guests weigh their Joegurt creations and pay a per?ounce price. Jenny Culp, Head Coach of the W. 50th Street location stated, "The kids love to go through the line and make their own creations. It is fun for them to make their own choices."

Guests who would like to try a sample of Joegurt can opt into Happy Joe's new Mobile Club by texting HJ26 to 87365. They will receive a coupon for a free Joegurt at Happy Joe's located at 50th and Welcome Way.

Happy Joe's new Joegurt concept is the only one of its kind in the Quad City area. The company plans to open the next Joegurt concept in Cedar Rapids.
