Today marks the beginning of Joey Donia's first full week on air as the new Sports Director for award winning, NBC affiliate, KWQC-TV6.  Donia comes to KWQC-TV6 from WOI in Des Moines, where he spent the last two years as a weekend sportscaster, covering Iowa and Iowa State sports, as well as working on a 30-minute weekly high school football show.  Donia is a Chicago-area native, and a graduate of Drake University.   In all, he's spent nearly a decade in Iowa, with a two-year stop at WALB in Albany, Georgia in the middle.

"We're excited to bring Joey's energy, enthusiasm and unique storytelling ability to our viewers across eastern Iowa and western Illinois," said KWQC-TV6 news director Rich Kurz. "I'm confident the addition of Joey to our team will continue to set KWQC-TV6 apart from our competition."

Joey is the recipient of several Best Sports Story awards.
