Rarely considered pieces of furniture will be made fascinating in a current Figge Art Museum exhibit, with the Davenport venue, through January 17, showcasing fully functional artworks in Seating by Design an exhibition the museum's executive director Michelle Hargrave says should “inspire ideas and new ways to consider the things that we are sitting on so much. Particularly nowadays while we're spending so much time in our homes.”

Held in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which guarantees and protects women's constitutional right to vote, A Portrait of Remarkable Women serves as the latest exhibition at the Quad City Arts International Airport Gallery, its display from September 2 through October 31 celebrating a milestone of democracy and the achievements of women, especially in the arts.

Held in conjunction with the venue's sprawling, fascinating exhibition Magnetic West: The Enduring Allure of the American West, Davenport's Figge Art Museum will host a special virtual artist talk with renowned Los Angeles photographer George Rodriguez on September 3, with the artist speaking about his nearly six-decade career photographing his city's Chicago community and celebrities of film, television, and music.

Some of the greatest and most beloved figures in world history will soon be celebrated at the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy, with the Bettendorf venue, from August 28 through October 31, showcasing portraits by internationally recognized artist Cecile Houel in Nobel Peace Prize Collection: Peace Starts Within, a new exhibition co-sponsored by Quad Cities radio station WVIK.

An exciting new project featuring outdoor installations of projected video art, the Open Air Media Festival will take place on August 28 and 29 in multiple locations throughout downtown Iowa City, with curator and media artist Zen Cohen working with video, new-media, and performance artists to present four site-specific projected installations and a mobile projection unit that the public will be invited to visit throughout both evenings.

Participating in an online August 27 event held in conjunction with the exhibition About Face: Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture, area ceramic artists will discuss their works, and the works of others, in a special, half-hour Virtual Artist Panel hosted by Davenport's Figge Art Museum.

Multi-hued works by a Black Hawk College alumna will be featured in the school's ArtSpace Gallery from August 10 through October 2, as the Moline college hosts a showcase for interdisciplinary artist Nicole Davis in her her exhibition Let the Circle Be Unbroken.

A fascinating collection of sculptures, prints, and works on paper by a trio of Midwestern artists can be viewed in the latest joint exhibition at the Quad City Arts Center, with the Rock Island venue, from August 21 through October 9, showcasing new works in the exhibits SIGNALS by Matthew Boonstra and Alan Pocaro and Original Prints by Elizabeth Powell.

Born in Haiti and raised in Miami, the noted painter, sculptor, and exhibitor Edouard Duval-Carrié Studio takes part in a special virtual presentation on August 16, offering online guests a tour of his studio and the chance to ask questions in a program hosted by the Figge Art Museum and held in celebration of the Davenport venue's 15th anniversary.

Co-presented by the Figge Art Museum in conjunction with the venue's 15th-anniversary celebration, simultaneous live and virtual presentations will be held at Davenport's Hot Glass art studio on August 14, with founder and executive director Joel Ryder delivering a fascinating live glass-blowing demonstration and the resulting artwork auctioned off at the evening's end.
