A wide variety of artworks – thoughtful, arresting, disturbing, even hilarious – by nearly four dozen area artists will be on display at the Quad City Arts Center through December 6, with the Rock Island venue presenting a series of fascinating takes on the prompt of the exhibit's title: “It's Fine. Everything Is Fine.”

On October 24, Figge Art Museum patrons are invited on a journey through the Davenport venue's Lewis Collection in a guided Musical Tour with Wolfskin & The Wild, an evening with the renowned folk duo designed to bring art to life through the power of music.

With the event held in partnership with Hola America and LULAC and sponsored by MidAmerican Energy Company, Davenport's Figge Art Museum will house a delightful Day of the Dead celebration in the October 13 Día de los Muertos Family Day Fiesta, an afternoon-long tribute honoring the memories of passed loved ones through music, dance, food, and community.

Held in conjunction with the venue's current exhibition Revolutionary Artist: The Prison Fantasies of David Alfaro Siqueiros, Davenport's Figge Art Museum will host a special Artist Celebration in honor of the exhibit's creator, the October 18 event inviting guests to participate in mural-making activities while learning about Siqueiros from Figge curators.

Formerly known as the German Theological College and Seminary, the University of Dubuque has a strong and vibrant history, and it's one that will be celebrated in a series of arresting and heartwarming photographs, with the exhibition UD: Then & Now on display in the university's Bisignano Art Gallery through November 8.

Between now and November 30, Dubuque's Voices Studio will host a new and compelling dual exhibition featuring the works of renowned artists Ellen Wagener and Greg Gossel, whose works displayed in separate galleries will deliver a full visual experience that juxtaposes the serene, ethereal landscapes of Wagener with the bold, provocative explorations of pop culture by Gossel.

Original works from nearly 90 juried regional and national artists will be on hand at the September 21 and 22 Riverssance Festival of Fine Art, with the 36th Lindsay Park event, hosted by Quad City Arts, boasting a children’s art-activity tent, food and beverage vendors, live music, and the presentation of the prestigious Harley Award, an honor given to an individual who has affected the arts and artists in the Quad Cities during their lifetime.

With its creator's artistic practice belonging to a tradition that intertwines nature, technology, and human experience, Leo Villareal: Interstellar, on display at Davenport's Figge Art Museum through February 23, will showcase nine works from light sculptor Villareal’s Nebula series, inviting patrons into the realms of space, time, and perception through LEDs and custom software.

With the goal of the evening's guest the creation of a rich environment in which emergent behavior can occur without a preconceived outcome, visual artist Leo Villareal takes part in a September 19 artist talk at Davenport's Figge Art Museum, this fascinating and thought-provoking discussion held in conjunction with the September 21 opening of the artist's new Figge exhibition Interstellar.
