Children and their moms (or grandmothers, aunts, neighbors) are invited to celebrate Mother’s Day with a special party in the Framed: Step into ArtTM exhibit at the Muscatine Art Center. The afternoon of Saturday, May 7th will be filled with tasty treats, games, dress up, photo ops in the Framed exhibit, and a craft to commemorate mom. For reservations, please call 563-263-8282 or stop by the Muscatine Art Center at 1314 Mulberry Avenue, Muscatine.

“The tea party is offered on the next to last day for the Framed exhibit,” explained Muscatine Art Center Director Melanie Alexander. “The exhibit has offered wonderful experiences for adults visiting with kids. Toads and Tea Cups is a little different than any other kids’ event offered in recent years. The party will take place in the middle of the exhibit with a giant step-on chicken on one side and a re-creation of Grant Wood’s Dinner for Threshers on the other.”

The exhibit appeals equally to boys and girls, and the theme “Toads and Tea Cups” was selected to signal that boys, as well as girls, are the intended audience for the tea. The treats, games, and crafts are suitable for kids up to age 12. The event is a fundraiser to support Friends of the Muscatine Art Center and their efforts to provide funding for educational programs at the Muscatine Art Center.

The Muscatine Art Center is located at 1314 Mulberry Avenue in Muscatine, Iowa. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday evenings until 7:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. Visit www.muscatineartcenter.org for more information about programs and events and to download a class brochure. The Muscatine Art Center invites the public to a fundraiser for Friends of the Muscatine Art Center, Saturday, May 7 from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
