With the return of warmer weather, several attractions re-open their doors.  Niabi Zoo opens on April 15 with several new reptiles, two 150-pound aldabra tortoises, and about 200 parakeets in a walk-in aviary.  Niabi is a great place for kids, and they certainly will enjoy the train and carousel.

The 800-person capacity Celebration Belle riverboat starts its cruises the first weekend of April.  It is the largest non-gaming luxury excursion vessel on the upper Mississippi River.

Baseball returns on April 6 when the Quad Cities River Bandits open their season with fireworks at the Number 1 minor league ballpark in the U.S.

Egg-citing Events in April

These unique egg hunts are new in the Quad Cities on Saturday, April 8.  From 9-11 a.m. Nahant Marsh hosts an Eco Egg Hunt, along with hands-on activities.  The GPS Scavenger egg hunt is for the older kids and a traditional egg hunt for younger kids.  Or bring the flashlights for a nighttime egg hunt at 8 p.m. for 9-12 yrs. at Riverside Park Field.  The John Deere Pavilion has ducks on April 13-15. See them hatching, sprouting their feathers, and playing in their pond and playground.
