Rocky’s high-scoring teams generated big donations

The Score for Education program has wrapped up for its inaugural 2016-17 season. QCSportsNet.com and Chris Elsberg State Farm Insurance are pleased to announce that their total combined donation to the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation was $1,138.00.

Score for Education includes a $1 donation for every point scored by Rocky’s football team, and a $3 donation for every three-point basket made by Rocky’s boys and girls teams during QCSportsNet.com’s live play-by-play coverage.

The football team scored an amazing 457 points last fall, triggering $457 in donations. The boys basketball team made 108 three-point baskets, for $324 in donations. And, Rocky’s girls team made 119 threes in the 14 games that received live coverage, for another $357 in donations.

Donations benefit students and teachers in the Rock Island-Milan School District, through scholarships and grants from the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (rimef.org). Chris Elsberg State Farm Insurance (chriselsberg.com) is providing half the total donation amount, with QCSportsNet.com providing the other half.

“The foundation does a great job helping deserving students afford the college of their choice, and helping outstanding teachers have the tools to do even better in the classroom,” said QCSportsNet.com’s Ken Jacoby. “We’re just pleased that we can be a part of what they do.”

Chris Elsberg said, “I am very proud to support the Rock Island-Milan School District and to see the success of our young people.”

QCSportsNet.com is the leading provider of high school sports play-by-play in the Quad Cities. During the 2016-17 season, QCSportsNet.com live-streamed all regular season and post season Rock Island and Pleasant Valley football games, while basketball coverage included all boys games and at least nine regular season girls games each for Rocky, PV, and United Township. In addition, all state tournament boys and girls basketball games of all three schools were carried live.
