Henderson homers twice as Bandits snap two game slide

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The River Bandits scored double-digit runs for the third time in eight days in a 14-4 win over the Peoria Chiefs on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Quad Cities clubbed three home runs and pounded out 12 hits and Ryan Hartman picked up the win in relief.

The Bandits (10-8) scored eight times off Peoria starter Bryan Dobzanski in the first three innings. Jake Rogers left the yard in the first inning on a two-run homer. Ray Henderson cracked a solo home run in the second. Peoria got on the board in the third on an RBI ground out from J.R Davis. Stephen Wrenn singled home a run in the third for the Bandits. The following batter, Rodrigo Ayarza, singled to centerfield with runners on first and second to score a run. A throw to try to nab Ayarza moving up to second on the throw trickled in to right field and it scored Wrenn all the way from first and Ayzarza came all the way home to make 7-1 Bandits. Three batters later Henderson launched his second home run of the night with a man on first. Carmen Benedetti walked with the bases loaded to make it 10-1 in the fifth. The Bandits made their final push on the scoreboard with a four run seventh. The Chiefs scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth in the 10-run defeat.

Dobzanski (0-2) took the loss, lasting 2.1 innings, allowing eight runs, all earned. Hector Perez started for the Bandits and pitched in to the fifth, but was pulled with one out to come up short of the win. Ryan Hartman came on in relief and picked up the win, tossing 3.2 innings, yielding two runs on four hits. Hartman (2-0) also struck out three.
