In honor of National HIV testing day
Moline, IL: June 27th is reserved as National HIV Testing day in America. It is imperative to know one’s status and The Project of the Quad Cities is here to help. TPQC has been helping the community battle the HIV/AIDS epidemic for the last 32 years and there is no sign of them stopping anytime soon. In order to kick off this national testing day TPQC is offering free HIV testing all day on the 27th at their 1202 4th Avenue location and will also provide snacks and drinks in order to spread awareness to the cause.
Of this day and upcoming free testing, Marketing Development Coordinator Mike Bennett said, “It is great to be able to be a part of a cause that is so important. These days HIV/AIDS kind of falls to the wayside of people’s minds. It is still very much a problem that needs addressing in all communities nationwide. I hope that our event will help bring the attention such a cause deserves. Every living person deserves to know their status. “
To continue its path of excellence, TPQC plans to execute the following initiatives:
· Providing health management, coordinated care services and advocacy to those impacted by HIV/STI/AIDS and other related conditions.
· Break down stigmas among different communities.
· Diligently provide education and intervention services to our community
About The Project of the Quad Cities: The Project of the Quad Cities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community based organization that was established in 1986 to provide services to those at risk of contracting, affected by, or living with STI/HIV/AIDS.
TPQC is the only HIV/STI/AIDS service organization in a 60 mile radius of the Quad Cities. We have three offices, two in Moline, IL and one in Davenport, IA and we serve approximately 300 clients, many of which live 200% below the poverty level.
It is our mission to be committed to fight the battle against STI/HIV/AIDS. It is with this mission in mind, and our community’s best interest at heart, that we provide education, prevention services, and assistance to our clients.
We will continue to work diligently to provide education and intervention services to our community, as the rates in TPQC’s service area indicate that HIV is not just a “big city” problem.
