MOLINE, ILLINOIS (November 9, 2020)  The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Quad City area residents and beyond to attend their virtual 10th annual Memories in the Making event on Thursday, November 12, 7PM. This unique event features paintings created by individuals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia in the Memories in the Making Art Therapy program, and these beautiful pieces will be available to bid on in the online auction.

The Memories in the Making Art Therapy program helps those living with the disease that have lost the ability to use words express their thoughts and emotions and share memories through paintings with watercolors. It’s a way to improve the quality of life for people living with the disease and bring their stories and feelings to light.

Normally, this event would be held in person, but this year due to COVID-19 it will be held in a virtual format 7–7:30PM on November 12, and registration is free. During the program, attendees will learn about the stories behind the special paintings being featured this year and will have the chance to bid on the paintings through the online auction. All proceeds raised through the auction will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association to support research, programs and resources for Iowans affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Register for free at QCMIM20.givesmart.com to get more details about the event and to be able to bid on the paintings. You can also view the program on November 12 at 7 PM live on the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter Facebook page.
