May 20th - Tour de LeClaire Big Wheel Races and Pancake Breakfast. 8:00a.m. River Valley Optimist Club is sponsoring Big Wheel Races for all children 3-6 years old. Children will be divided into two age brackets - 3-4 year old age division and 5-6 year old age division. All Big Wheels needed for the race will be provided. The race is FREE for all participating children. All participant names will be placed in a drawing to win one of the big wheels. 5 names will be drawn!Open Registration will begin at 8am. Races begin at 9am. Speed up the check in process by registering in advance. For registration form, please private message the River Valley Optimist Club's Facebook page. Pancake Breakfast begins at 8am. Come join them for some fuel before the races! May 20th - LiveFit with Lupus “Hills of the QC” Race & Festival 2017 Live Fit With Lupus Run - 1 mile, 10K, 5K and ½ Marathon Race at the Black Watch Room (at Pebble Creek Golf Course, 3851 Forest Grove Drive, LeClaire, Iowa. May 26th-29th -Twilight Riverboat Sightseeing Cruises 11am 1pm 3pm $16 adults, $8 children (4-12), Free 3 & under but must have a ticket. What better way to see the river than from the deck of an old-fashioned riverboat! Treat yourself to a 1-½ hour sightseeing cruise aboard the Riverboat Twilight. These cruises will depart and return from the Port of LeClaire IA. Trip includes captivating Captain’s narration and commanding views of the river, its wildlife, and quaint river towns. May 26th-29th – LeClaire Welcomes State Historical Museum of Iowa's Mobile Museum to the Levee Along the Mississippi Riverfront. Take free tours of "Iowa History 101" to see artifacts and learn about Iowa history. The idea behind the State Historical Society of Iowa's new "Iowa History 101" mobile museum, a bright blue, custom-built Winnebago that travels the state's highways and back roads, is to share stories from the past. The museum on wheels currently houses a 300-square-foot exhibition called "Iowa History 101" and is filled with artifacts from the State Historical Society's collection. The mobile museum will visit LeClaire, Iowa May 26-29 and offer free tours 10am-4pm on the Levee along the beautiful Mississippi River. There are four openings on the LeClaire Tourism Board - one to represent non-profits, one to represent restaurants, and two to represent retail businesses. If interested, please submit the application AND your resume to City Hall by 5pm on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Please read the attached information closely. City Council has changed some of the rules for applying for city boards, and you will need to meet the qualifications. (You don't have to be a LeClaire resident to apply for this board.) Also, if you've applied in the past, you will need to re-apply at this time.
