Johnston, Iowa - Season 6 of IPTV's "Iowa Ingredient" premieres Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. The season will feature sizzling new episodes exploring fresh ingredients grown in Iowa, the passionate farmers who produce them and the creative chefs who cook with them.

Travel the state with Charity Nebbe as she meets Iowa producers of honey, plums, arugula, bacon, blackberries, broccoli, duck, zucchini, sweet potatoes and sweet corn this season. "Iowa Ingredient" also features talented chefs who use local ingredients to create delicious recipes.

"I think for me the best part of "Iowa Ingredient" is seeing people who are doing really innovative things with food," Nebbe said. "We are featuring the pioneers who are passionate about growing something different in Iowa, and making sure the food gets to consumers when it's fresh, flavorful and beautiful."

This season will feature chefs from all across Iowa, including Chef David Baruthio of Baru 66 and other Des Moines area restaurants, Chef Katy Meyer of Trumpet Blossom Cafe in Iowa City, Chef Tom Skold of Restauration in Decorah, Chef Walter Jahncke of Northside Cafe in Winterset and Chef Melissa Freidhof of Ross's Restaurant in Bettendorf.

New episodes will premiere each week on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. on statewide Iowa Public Television.

"The people we're talking with are often young families who are in this for the long haul," "Iowa Ingredient" Senior Producer Deb Herbold said. "It's really amazing seeing both the new and experienced growers, farmers evolving into this new kind of producer and taking some real chances to make Iowa a pioneer in this initiative."
