Over 1 million pounds of food were distributed in 2016 to more than 170,000 individuals at Churches United of the Quad Cities’ 25 free food pantries and three hot meal sites in Iowa and Illinois.

That’s nearly 3 percent of the greater Quad City Area population!

We are a faith-based ecumenical organization that provides temporary help through collaboration with member churches and partner agencies,” said Anne Wachal, Executive Director.

But supplying food alone will not eliminate hunger, Wachal added. “In 2017, Churches United is ‘all in’ to put a big dent in hunger by continuing to monitor and address other identified needs with both established and new community partners in faith.”

Churches United has a 55-year history of reaching out to our community. Our 137 member churches represent 50,000 people from the Quad City Area. Churches United operates 25 free food pantries and 3 hot meal sites; shelters women with or without children who are homeless or victims of violence at Winnie’s Place; and accepts donations of new or gently used clothing for women and children as well as small kitchen appliances, furniture, toys and household items at Winnie’s Wishes Resale Shop.
