Quad Cities outhit 13-6, see winning streak end
DAVENPORT, Iowa – The River Bandits saw their five game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon in a 6-1 loss to the Clinton LumberKings. The LumberKings scored six unanswered runs and used strong pitching to topple the Bandits. Clinton starter Ljay Newsome picked up the win for the visitors.
Quad Cities (9-7) started the scoring in the first inning on a Spencer Johnson RBI single to score Rodrigo Ayarza. Clinton (7-9) took the lead for good in the second inning when Dimas Ojeda drove in two runs on a single. Anthony Jimenez smoked a single to centerfield to make it 3-1 LumberKings in the sixth. Conner Hale started the Clinton seventh with a triple and scored on the following play on a Gareth Morgan double. Jhombeyker Morales hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Morgan, making it 5-1 Clinton. The final run was scored in the eighth when Nick Thurman scored on a wild pitch.
Enoli Paredes took the loss on the mound for the Bandits. Paredes (0-1) tossed 4.2 innings of two run ball, striking out four and allowing six hits. Newsome (3-1) received a quality start, lasting six innings. The righty yielded one run, four hits and struck out four Bandits.
