42nd Street: The Musical (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Saturday, November 21, 3 & 7 p.m.) -

Against the Tide: Finding God in an Age of Science (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Friday, November 20, and Monday, November 23, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Annie - 1982 (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Sunday, November 22, noon & 4 p.m., and Monday, November 23, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Come Play (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - Not-bad horror, but the film still relies far too heavily on narratively inessential bangs and booms and shrieking music cues to goose us out of our seats, and the messaging comes with awkwardly on-the-nose dialogue that the performers can't salvage. IMDb listing.

The Croods: A New Age (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: opens Wednesday, November 25) - IMDb listing.

Freaky (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - The mild fun of writer/director Christopher Landon's body-swap horror comedy pretty much ends with its set-up, and once that central conceit is established, what transpires is so oddly dull that it's like being disappointed by the same movie twice. IMDb listing.

Gekijouban Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel III -- Spring Song (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Guardians of the Galaxy (PG-13; Davenport 53rtd 18 + IMAX) - This Marvel hit is slavishly devoted to formula, but the bountiful jokes and inspired cast make the experience feel relatively fresh. IMDb listing.

Honest Thief (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - As innocent victims got shot and car chases took place and Liam Neeson's eyes gleamed with ever-escalating rage, it took all my will not to fall into a catatonic stupor from which I was afraid I might never return. IMDb listing.

The Last Vermeer (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Let Him Go (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - It might be a long while until movie theaters are again crowded places to be. A steady release of movies as good as this new-Western, though, will at least make them more satisfying places to be. IMDb listing.

The Santa Clause (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Tenet (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - Christopher Nolan's latest boasts a narrative that I couldn't spoil even if I wanted to, and I kind of really want to, if only to explain why my brain was practically bleeding from the strain of trying to figure this thing out. IMDb listing.

Unhinged (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - This abhorrent yet crazy-watchable thriller is kind of like Steven Spielberg's road-rage thriller Duel with Russell Crowe cast as the truck. IMDb listing.

Vanguard (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

The War with Grandpa (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - Tim Hill's family slapstick is awkwardly staged and not all that funny, but I was so happy to hear a movie crowd roaring with laughter again that I just about bawled. IMDb listing.
