Grimes, IA – The annual Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) Unified Sports Day at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon will be held Saturday, December 16. SOIA athletes from Cedar Rapids, Clinton, Dubuque, Mt. Vernon, the Quad Cities, Vinton and the surrounding area are expected to attend. They will partner with Cornell College students for a day of unified activities.

Grimes, IA – Law enforcement officers will stake themselves atop 18 participating Dunkin’ Donuts locations across the state of Iowa on Friday, September 8 to help raise money for Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA).

Iowa Athletes to Compete Against Nation’s Best

Grimes, IA – Special Olympics Iowa honored its Outstanding Athlete, Coach and Family of the Year award winners during the Summer Games Opening Ceremonies presented by Hy-Vee May 25 at Iowa State University’s Hilton Coliseum. The Scott Bryant Unsung Hero Award was also presented to recognize an individual dedicated to the Law Enforcement Torch Run program.

Grimes, IA – More than 2,500 athletes, 1,200 coaches and 1,500 volunteers are set to converge on the campus of Iowa State University for the 33rd Annual Special Olympics Iowa Summer Games May 25-27. Events begin Thursday, May 25 with the Torch Run Final Leg bringing the Flame of Hope from downtown Des Moines to Hilton Coliseum for the Opening Ceremonies presented by Hy-Vee beginning at 7 p.m.
Grimes, IA – Texas Roadhouse is open for lunch! Doors will open at all Iowa locations on Thursday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a FREE lunch in support of Special Olympics Iowa. Simply leave a donation at your table and 100% of the proceeds will go to Special Olympics Iowa. Local law enforcement officials will serve meals and bus tables, allowing all tips to also benefit athletes with intellectual disabilities.
